Miss East Reykjavík, Hrafnhildur Haraldsdottir bested 15 other finalists to be crowned Miss Universe Iceland 2022 on Wednesday, August 24 at Gamla Bíó in downtown Reykjavik. The 18-year-old student at the Commercial College of Iceland (Verzlunarskóli Íslands), who has her goal set on studying medicine after graduation and becoming a doctor, succeeds last year's winner Elísa Gróa Steinþórsdóttir. Miss Northern Lights, Isabella Þorvaldsdóttir, placed second while the representatives of Northern Iceland, Alexandra Andreyeva Tomasdottir; Grafarholt, Þorbjörg Kristinsdottir; and Gullfoss, Elva Björk Jónsdóttir, were in third, fourth and fifth places, respectively. Elísa Gróa Steinþórsdóttir was crowned Miss Universe Iceland 2021 in a glittering national competition held at the historic Gamla Bíó in Reykjavik on Wednesday, September 29. The 27-year-old dancer who hails from Gardabaer succeeds Elísabet Hulda Snorradóttir and will now prepare to represent Iceland at the 70th Miss Universe pageant in Eilat, Israel this December. Íris Freyja Salguero  Kristinardottir, who placed second, was named Miss Supranational Iceland 2021. The 22-year-old will be sent to the Miss Supranational competition next year in Poland.
