Binibining Pilipinas 2023: Meet the official Top 40

Binibining Pilipinas 2023, the 59th edition of the Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) pageant has begun and the Top 40 have been officially revealed. BPCI (Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Incorporated) launched its search last month for the next set of Filipinas who will represent the Philippines at different international pageants. This year's final screening and selection of contestants took place on Monday, February 6 at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City. The date for the grand coronation night to be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum has not yet been announced. Nicole Borromeo, Gabrielle Basiano, Chelsea Fernandez, and Roberta Tamondong will crown their successors at the end of the event. Netizens have mixed reactions to this news and some hope that this competition will remain a "stand-alone" event as it was intended from the beginning. Details for the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines 2023 including which crowns are added to their roster of winners are yet to be revealed. In addition to Miss Universe 2023, several guesses for the new crowns include Miss Supranational, Miss Charm, and Miss Intercontinental. Philippines' Maria Luisa Varela wins Miss Planet International 2023

Miss Planet Philippines Maria Luisa Varela was crowned Miss Planet International 2023 on Sunday, January 29 at Koh Pich Theater in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The 26-year-old entrepreneur who also bagged the Social Media award became the first Filipina representative to win the international pageant. She succeeded the first winner from 2019, Monique Best of South Africa. Jemima Ruth Mandemwa of Zimbabwe and Ono Aya of Japan were named the first and second runners-up respectively. Rounding out the Top 7 were Tiffany Ha of Vietnam, Katarina Juselius of Finland, Alina Safronova of Latvia, and Srey Leak Pok of Cambodia. Binibining Pilipinas officially withdraws from Miss Grand International

After almost a decade, Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) officially announced its withdrawal from the Miss Grand International Organization. In an official statement released on Monday, November 7, BPCI revealed it will no longer renew its contract with the Thailand-based international pageant. The announcement received a lot of jolly feedback from Filipino fans who have been begging the organizers for years to drop the franchise. Under BPCI, the Philippines managed to achieve two third runners-up placements with Annalie Forbes (2013) and Parul Shah (2015), one second runner-up with Elizabeth Clenci (2017), and two first runners-up with Nicole Cordoves (2016) and Samantha Mae Bernardo (2020). Miss Grand International 2020 Top 20 semi-finalist and appointed fifth runner-up Roberta Tamondong officially became the last representative from the most prestigious and longest-running national beauty pageant in the Philippines. Aside from MGI, BPCI previously held the national franchi
