The state costume show for Miss Teen USA 2023 was held on Wednesday, September 27 at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada. Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava was announced as the winner for her honeybee-inspired costume designed by fashion designer Simon Villalba. The Honeybee is New Jersey's official state bug. "This costume is very special to me because my mom has called me her little bee all my life (swipe to the end), and to discover that the honeybee is New Jersey's state insect made the connection I feel to my wonderful state, that much deeper," she shared on social media after winning the award. "I'm so proud I got to channel my inner queen bee tonight because I believe that all of us can learn from the hardworking and selfless nature of the honeybee," she added. The week-long event will conclude this Friday, September 29 with the coronation of the 72nd Miss USA who will go on to represent the United States of America at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador on November 18. As the prestigious national competition begins, it is not easy to predict which of the contestants will take home the crown as it could be anyone's game. The 51 contestants vying for the coveted title are now on their way to the national competition in Reno, Nevada. Only one of them will be crowned as USA's representative to Miss Universe 2023 which is set for November 18 in El Salvador. An esteemed panel of judges who will select Morgan Romano's successor includes beauty entrepreneur and founder of One/Size Beauty Patrick Starrr, fashion designer and businesswoman Nicole Miller, actress, director, producer and entrepreneur Vivica A. Fox, and model, philanthropist, and entrepreneur Emina Cunmulaj Nazarian. The CW Television Network will broadcast Miss USA 2023 on September 29 at 8 p.m. EST from the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada. Miss Teen USA 2023 will also be held at the same venue, on September 28 at 7 p.m. EST, and will stream live on the network's official app and website. Further details on the upcoming national competitions including the hosts and members of the selection committee have yet to be announced. Contestants from 50 states and the District of Columbia, crowned from different state competitions held between September 2022 and August 2023, will be vying for the coveted title currently held by Morgan Romano of North Carolina. Mrs. Texas America Regina Stock was crowned Mrs. America 2023 in a national competition held on Saturday, August 26 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Nevada. The 27-year-old mother of four hailing from Odessa, Texas edged out over 40 other competitors to win the coveted national title. She succeeds last year's winner Nicole Zwiercan of Illinois. Shelby Petey of California and Brandi DeVries of Minnesota were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively. Completing the Top 6 finalists were Keri Sanders of Alabama, Tatiana Kharina of Connecticut, and Tomilynn Clark of Nevada. The rest of the Top 15 semifinalists were from the District of Columbia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Mrs. South Dakota American Hannah Neeleman was crowned Mrs. American 2023 in a glittering competition held on Friday, August 25 at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Nevada. The 33-year-old rancher and entrepreneur bested over 40 other competitors to win the national title. She succeeds last year's titleholder Krisdee Clark of South Carolina and is now expected to compete next in the Mrs. World 2023 pageant. Mandy Fave of Minnesota and Jayme Perryman of Idaho were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Sharelle Mendenhall of Nevada, Katheryn Clatterbaugh of North Carolina, and AnnMarie Gutierrez of Texas rounded out the Top 6 finalists.
