Okada's Cove Manila, one of the world’s most luxurious event locations, has been officially announced as the venue for the final and coronation of the Miss Earth 2022 pageant. The islands of the Philippines are ready to welcome eco-warriors from around the world to compete in one of the most prestigious and relevant beauty competitions. Over 90 expected contestants will have the chance to explore, experience and enjoy the culture, food and nature in the finest tourism and ecotourism destinations of the Southeast Asian tropical paradise. The Miss Globe 2022 Miss Bikini competition took place on Saturday, October 8 at the Aquadrom in Tirana, Albania. Albania's Drita Ziri, a 17-year-old model from Fushë-Krujë, was announced the winner while the representative from Thailand, Thanawan Wigg, placed second. Rounding out the Top 5 were Ekaterina Dubenik of Belarus, Rika Kinoshita of Japan, and Argi Annisil of Venezuela. The Miss Bikini competition was just one of the preliminary events of The Miss Globe pageant. Cape Verde will be represented for the time at the Miss Earth pageant with the newly appointed Miss Earth Cabo Verde 2022 Tayrine da Veiga. The 24-year-old public relations law student was named first runner-up during the Miss Cabo Verde International pageant held on September 3 in Praia. Apart from her studies, she is also a professional model and travel agency coordinator. "It is a lot of responsibility to carry 10 islands on the coast, each with its own particularities. I count on each of you to continue together in this new phase of my life," she wrote in a statement on social media. "Anxious and enthusiastic I prepare to make my people proud of me. I promise to take all the best we have, to make Cape Verde increasingly known for our culture and Morabeza," she added. Following the "rigged" allegations against Miss USA, the Miss Universe Organization has immediately suspended Crystle Stewart's The Miss Brand Corp, producers of the competition. The suspension happened after MUO's "thorough deliberation" and this has been confirmed in an official email sent to the state pageant directors. Miss USA will now be under MUO while "a comprehensive, third-party investigation is conducted" by the law firm Holland & Knight and the next appropriate action will be based on their findings. The email signed by MUO President Paula Shugart and CEO Amy Emmerich also mentioned Crystle's cooperation through the process and brought up MUO's commitment to the contestants and fans as the top of their priority. Payengxa Lor was crowned Miss Universe Laos 2022 in a glittering competition held on Saturday, October 8 at the Grand Ballroom of Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel in Vientiane. The 21-year-old business management student at the Lao-American College bested 19 other finalists to win the national title. Reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu has arrived in Colombia for her first official visit to the country to participate in activities for Smile Train, a nonprofit organization and charity providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates. Headquartered in New York City and founded in 1999, Smile Train provides free corrective cleft surgery in 87 countries, training local doctors and providing hospital funding for the procedures. Almost 70 contestants from around the world have already arrived in Bali, Indonesia for the 10th Miss Grand International pageant. Following their arrival and registrations at the Seminyak Beach Resort and Spa, several activities have taken place during the first week of the competition. Cheam Wei Yeng (Lesley) was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2022 on Friday, October 7 at the M Resort & Hotel in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. The 26-year-old pharmaceutical and health science graduate is an assistant manager and a multilingual host and talent from Selangor. She succeeds Miss Universe Malaysia 2020 Francisca Luhong James. Ajunee Simreet Kaur Khangura and Tee Wan Ying were named the first and second runners-up, respectively.
