Miss Earth 2023: Vietnam's Do Lan Anh wins Best Appearance

Vietnam's Do Lan Anh has been announced the winner of the Best Appearance at Miss Earth 2023 blue carpet welcome event which was held last December 3 at the Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City. The 26-year-old was voted by fans from December 4 to December 8 on the official social media page of the Miss Earth competition. As previously announced, the rest of the Top 5 finalists for the award were beauties from Cambodia (Pouvjessica Tan), Mongolia (Munkhchimeg Batjargal), Myanmar (Soung Hnin San), and the Philippines (Yllana Aduana). For her prize, Miss Earth Vietnam received a chance to double her voting points for the Miss People's Choice on the Eventista portal from 9 p.m. on December 13 until 9 p.m. on December 14. The winner of the Miss People's Choice award will automatically earn a spot in the Top 20 semifinals to be revealed during the final show. A total of 23 contestants from Asia and Oceania are currently vying for Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam. Five returning countries from the region this year consist of Bangladesh, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, and the Northern Marianas. Asia and Oceania have held the title of Miss Earth six times since the first edition of the pageant in 2001. The Philippines leads with four wins, two of which were back-to-back in 2014 and 2015. Miss Earth 2023: Meet the contestants from Europe

Twenty-seven of the 86 contestants currently vying for Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam came from the region of Europe. Returning countries this year include Armenia, Denmark, Germany and Ukraine. After winning the inaugural Miss Earth competition in 2001 with Denmark's Catharina Svensson, the region managed to achieve two more victories — Bosnia and Herzegovina's Dzejla Glavovic in 2002 (dethroned) and Czech Republic's Tereza Fajksova in 2012. Europe's last placement in the Top 4 was in 2020 with Michala Rubinstein of Denmark who bagged the Miss Earth - Fire title. Twenty-one contestants from the region of the Americas are currently vying for Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam. A total of four countries returned to the pageant this year — Honduras, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, and the US Virgin Islands. The Americas held the Miss Earth title 12 times in the pageant's 23-year history. Brazil, Ecuador, and Venezuela lead with two wins each. Will there be another winner from the region this year? A total of 15 contestants from the region of Africa are currently vying for Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam. Three returning countries this year consist of Kenya, Liberia, and Madagascar. The region held the Miss Earth title once with Winfred Omwakwe of Kenya in 2002. Its last placement in the Top 4 was in 2008 with Tanzania's Miriam Odemba. Following the Miss Earth 2023 blue carpet evening gown competition and "Xin Chao" welcome ceremony held last Sunday at the Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City, online voting was conducted on social media for "Best Appearance" from December 4 to December 8. Based on the officially announced voting results, the Top 5 winners for the award were the contestants from Cambodia (Pouvjessica Tan), Mongolia (Munkhchimeg Batjargal), Myanmar (Soung Hnin San), Philippines (Yllana Aduana) and Vietnam (Do Thi Lan Anh). Miss Earth 2023 competition kicks off, contestants officially sashed

The contestants vying for Miss Earth 2023 officially received their green sashes on Friday, December 1 with the presence of Miss Earth executive Peachy Veneracion and Miss Earth Vietnam's national director Truong Ngoc Anh. Around 80 eco beauties from the world have already arrived in the host country. Their sashing ceremony took place at Wink Hotels, their official residence hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Aside from meeting their fellow contestants in person and receiving their iconic sashes, their first week of activities also consists of social media interviews, fittings, rehearsals for the HCMC Tourism Week opening, and preliminary for the talent competition. Former Miss Earth Colombia Alejandra Villafañe passes away at the age of 34

Colombian actress and former Miss Earth Colombia Alejandra Villafañe died in Bogotá on October 21 after months of battling cancer. Alejandra was 34 years old and was engaged to actor Raul Ocampo at the time of her death. Messages of sympathy poured in online from her family, friends, and fellow celebrities. Prior to becoming an actress, she was crowned Miss Earth Colombia 2014 and went on to participate in the 14th Miss Earth pageant in the Philippines where she placed in the Top 16. After pageantry, she appeared in numerous telenovelas, television series, and films. Her last project was the film "El Yuppie y El Guiso" by the renowned Colombian film producer and screenwriter Dago García. In a statement on social media, the Miss Earth Colombia organization shared: "The light that Alejandra radiated, both in her work and everyday life, will never stop inspiring us.
