After an 8-year hiatus, Montenegro will return to the Miss Universe stage with the newly crowned Miss Universe Montenegro 2024 Rumina Ivezaj. The 19-year-old beauty won the national title in a glittering competition held on Saturday, June 8 at the Palace of Congresses in Tirana. "Last night my childhood dream came true and I still can't believe all my hard work and effort paid off. I've grown so much on this journey and it has been filled with joy and unforgettable memories," she wrote online. The new Miss Universe Montenegro was born and raised in Germany. She is a high school graduate but plans to study criminal justice in the future. Montenegro debuted at Miss Universe in 2007 with Snežana Bušković. The Balkan country's last participation was in 2015 with Maja Čukić. Andjela Vukadinovic (Anđela Vukadinović) was crowned Miss Crne Gore 2023 (Miss Montenegro / Miss World Montenegro) in a national pageant held last March 11 at the Regent Porto Montenegro. The 22-year-old model and economics student from Tivat bested 11 other finalists to win her title. She also bagged two special awards — Miss Photogenic and Face of the Regent Hotel. Katarina Lukovac and Maša Žugić were named the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Anastasija Dragović and Monika Radović rounded out the Top 5 finalists. Out of hundreds of applications, a total of only 12 contestants were selected to take part in this year's final competition. The new Miss Montenegro is now expected to represent her country at the 71st Miss World (Miss World 2023) edition in India on a date yet to be announced. Natalia Labović, 26, was officially announced as Miss Montenegro 2020. She was crowned by her predecessor Mirjana Muratović in a special ceremony that was recently aired live on national television. "I'm overjoyed, I can't believe it," she said after winning her national title. The rest of the Top 3, Una Mugoša and Kristina Radović, were named Miss Eco Montenegro and Miss Tourism Montenegro 2021, respectively. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the selection process of the pageant was carried out online and casting was held at the Voco Hotel in Podgorica. The new Miss Montenegro, who previously joined Miss Tourism World 2019 in China, currently lives in Germany and speaks several languages.
