Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst passes away, sister queens share memories and condolences

Sad news shocked the entire pageant community after the tragic passing of Cheslie Kryst, an Emmy Award-nominated "Extra" correspondent, and a former Miss USA winner. According to reports, the 30-year-old jumped off a high-rise apartment building in Midtown Manhattan, New York, and her lifeless body was found on Sunday morning. "In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie," her family shared in a statement. "Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined." Cheslie was crowned Miss USA 2019 while representing North Carolina and went on to compete at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant in Atlanta, Georgia where she placed in the Top 10. Miss Earth USA 2022 is Natalia Salmon of Pennsylvania

Natalia Salmon, representing Pennsylvania, was crowned Miss Earth USA 2022 in a national final held on Saturday, January 8 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The 22-year-old architecture and real estate development graduate from the University of Maryland College Park bested 50 other beauties to win the national competition. She succeeds last year's winner and Miss Earth Air 2021, Marisa Butler. District of Columbia's Faith Porter was named Miss Earth USA Air while Connecticut's Brielle Simmons, North Carolina's Hannah Welborn-Lewis, and Oklahoma's Emma Loney clinched the titles Miss Earth USA Water, Miss Earth USA Fire, and Miss Earth USA Eco, respectively. The Miss USA organization has finally shared the crowning moment of this year's winner from Kentucky, Miss USA 2021 Elle Smith. The 23-year-old journalist was crowned by Asya Branch of Mississippi during Monday night's glittering final competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma. "I am thrilled and honored to be your Miss USA 2021. I can’t say thank you enough to every single person who has supported me on this journey. Every single comment, every single message, and prayer did not go unnoticed," she shared on her social media page. "To the great state of Kentucky, you will forever have my heart. You believed and loved on me since I was crowned in May and there is no other state I would have wanted to represent on the Miss USA stage," she added. Miss Kentucky USA Elle Smith bested 50 other contestants to be crowned Miss USA 2021 on Monday, November 29 at the Paradise Cove Theater of River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The 23-year-old reporter is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in broadcast journalism. She is the second woman from the state of Kentucky to win the national competition.  Caitlyn Vogel of North Dakota finished first runner-up while Ashley Carino of Florida and Sydni Bennett of Illinois were named the second and third runners-up, respectively. Maryland's Layilah Nasser, North Carolina's Madison Bryant, South Carolina's Marley Stokes, and Texas' Victoria Hinojosa completed the Top 8 finalists. Miss Silver State, Kataluna Enriquez, edged out over 20 other contestants to be crowned Miss Nevada USA 2021 in a state competition held on Sunday, June 27 in Las Vegas. The 27-year-old Filipino-American beauty succeeds last year's winner Victoria Olona of Paradise. She will represent the state of Nevada at the Miss USA 2021 pageant in Tulsa, Oklahoma this November. Gracie Hunt, representing Kansas City, was crowned Miss Kansas USA 2021 in a glittering competition held on Sunday, April 11 at the B&B Live Performing Arts Theatre in Shawnee. The 21-year-old works in marketing and development for the Kansas City Chiefs and currently pursuing her master’s in sport management from the University of Kansas. She is a global ambassador for Special Olympics, a certified health and fitness coach with Celiac disease, and founded the nonprofit Breaking Barriers Through Sports in 2016 to aid the disadvantaged and promote respect and inclusion worldwide. Marley Stokes was crowned Miss South Carolina USA 2021 in a glittering competition held last Saturday, March 6 at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. The 23-year-old former Miss South Carolina Teen USA from Lexington is a model, professional makeup artist, and a licensed phlebotomist. She placed second runner-up in Miss Teen USA 2016. Another winner at the venue is a 17-year-old native of Easley, Augusta Roach, who took home the title of Miss South Carolina Teen USA 2021. She is a senior in high school who plans to study mass communications at the University of South Carolina Honors College. Mississippi's Asya Branch crowned Miss USA 2020

Miss Mississippi USA, Asya Branch, was crowned Miss USA 2020 in a national competition held at Elvis Presley's Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday, November 9. The 22-year-old entrepreneur who hails from Booneville succeeded Cheslie Kryst of North Carolina. She became the first-ever black woman to represent Mississippi at Miss USA and the first-ever national winner from her state. Idaho's Kim Layne was named first runner-up and Oklahoma's Mariah Davis finished second runner-up. Alexis Lete of Indiana and Kelly Hutchinson of Alabama were the third and fourth runners-up, respectively.
