Mexico has been officially announced as the host country of the 73rd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2024) pageant. The announcement was made during the Miss Universe 2023 final show held on Saturday, November 18 in San Salvador, El Salvador. A country in the southern portion of North America, Mexico is known for its rich culture, ancient ruins, dazzling beaches, and incredible cuisine. From tequila to cenotes to Frida Kahlo, it is a beautiful land with diverse people, landscapes, food, and culture. Mexico hosted the Miss Universe pageant four times — in 1978, 1989, 1993, and 2007. The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) announced on Monday, August 7 that they are open to applications from potential national directors who would like their country-level pageant to be a part of the 2024 MUO system. This is the first time in the pageant's 72-year history that MUO is taking formal applications from the public, and this open process reflects the organization's commitment to being as inclusive and representative as possible. "We often hear that pageant professionals and fans would love to be a part of the international system but have no idea how to get involved. Well, we've just opened our first-ever open procurement for potential partners who want to host a competition and be part of Miss Universe 2024. And, people can fill it out right on an online form."
