South Africa's Mia le Roux withdraws from Miss Universe 2024


The Miss South Africa Organization has just announced that the reigning Miss South Africa Mia le Roux has withdrawn from Miss Universe 2024.

In an official statement, the organization wrote, "It is with deep regret that we share the news that Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health concerns."

According to Mia, "Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed upon me."

"I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so that I may continue to serve my country with full strength," she added.

The Miss South Africa Organization also expressed their full support of Mia's decision to leave the competition.

They said: "Her health and well-being are our utmost priority, and we stand by her side, dedicated to ensuring she regains her strength and returns to full health."

The 73rd Miss Universe pageant is underway in Mexico. A new Miss Universe will be crowned this coming Saturday, November 16 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.

Miss Universe Hong Kong 2026 is Jennifer Kraft Zhou

Jennifer Kraft Zhou was crowned the winner of the Miss Universe Hong Kong 2026 pageant on Friday, September 18 at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. The 27-year-old content creator surpassed 14 other contestants to secure the title. She received her crown from her predecessor, last year's champion Lizzie Li. Alexis Leung and Angeline Leung earned the positions of first and second runners-up, respectively. Melanie Siu and Kevina Kwong completed the Top 5 finalists. Dylan Palmerini from France was declared the winner of the Manhunt International 2026 competition on Wednesday, September 9, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The 21-year-old model hailing from Marseille triumphed over more than 30 other contestants, achieving a remarkable back-to-back victory for his nation. Veera Grönlund, a 30-year-old from Helsinki, was crowned Miss Suomi 2026 (Miss Finland 2026) on Saturday, September 5, at Hybridiarena Hype in Espoo. Joheirry Mola Dominguez from the Dominican Republic bested 110 other contestants to win Miss World 2026 on Saturday, September 5 in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
