Miss Universe Brazil 2023 is Maria Brechane of Rio Grande do Sul

Maria Brechane edged out 26 other competitors to be crowned Miss Universo Brasil 2023 (Miss Universe Brazil 2023) on Saturday, July 8 at Pátio Welucci in São Paulo. The 19-year-old trilingual model, actress, and journalism student representing Rio Grande do Sul will represent Brazil at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador. She succeeds last year's winner Mia Mamede from Vitória, Espírito Santo. Bárbara Reis of Mato Grosso and Vitória Brodt of São Paulo were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Rounding out the Top 7 finalists were the contestants from Amazonas, Alice Casanova, Goiás, Renata Guerra, Pará, Milena Gomes, and Sergipe, Gabriela Botelho. Miss Universe Brazil 2023 has officially kicked off with the preliminary swimsuit competition of the 27 contestants held on Wednesday, June 5 in São Paulo. A new crown "Iêda" was also unveiled at Vasto Restaurant in honor of the victory and legacy of Brazil's first Miss Universe Iêda Maria Vargas who won the coveted international title 60 years ago. Now age 78, the former beauty queen turned actress hailing from Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul was proclaimed Miss Universe 1963 among 50 competitors in Miami Beach, Florida. She succeeded Norma Nolan of Argentina. An exquisite masterpiece of renowned jeweler Miguel Alcade, the new crown will be passed on to the new queen during the grand final and coronation of this year's Miss Universe Brazil this Saturday at Pátio Welucci. Miss Universo Brasil 2022 is Mia Mamede of Espírito Santo

Mia Mamede, the representative of Espírito Santo, bested four other finalists to be crowned Miss Universo Brasil 2022 (Miss Universe Brazil 2022) on Tuesday, July 19 in São Paulo. The 26-year-old graduate in audiovisual journalism and socio-economics from the University of New York hails from the city of Vitória and is multilingual. She hosts a program about travel and entertainment broadcast on YouTube. Rebeca Portilho of Amazonas and Isa Murta of Minas Gerias were respectively in second and third places while the representatives of Ceará, Luana Lobo, and Rio Grande do Sul, Alina Furtado, were the rest of the five finalists. The newly crowned Miss Universe Brazil succeeded last year's titleholder Teresa Santos and will now prepare to represent her country at Miss Universe 2022. "Everything still feels like a dream. Miss Universe Brazil 2021 is Teresa Santos

Miss Ceará, Teresa Santos, was crowned Miss Universo Brasil 2021 (Miss Universe Brazil) in a gleaming national competition held in Rio de Janeiro and aired on Tuesday night, November 9. The 26-year-old psychology student, model, and entrepreneur edged out 26 other beauties to win her title. She will represent Brazil at the 70th Miss Universe pageant to be held in Eilat, Israel this December. Miss Piauí, Gabriela Lacerda, and Miss Sergipe, Carol Valença were the first and second runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Universe Brazil succeeds Julia Gama, who placed first runner-up during the 69th Miss Universe competition in Florida, USA last May.
