SPOTLIGHT: Miss Nicaragua 2022 Norma Huembes - 'I want to be the face that brings joy and excitement to Nicaraguans'

Nicaragua will be represented at the 71st Miss Universe edition (Miss Universe 2022) by Norma Huembes, a 24-year-old public accountant from San Marcos, Carazo. Set between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, the Central American country is known for its dramatic terrain of lakes, volcanoes and beaches. Since its Miss Universe debut in 1955, only four women successfully placed in the competition courtesy of Beatriz Obregón in 1977 (Top 12), Xiomara Blandino in 2007 (Top 10), Nastassja Bolívar in 2013 (Top 16), and Ana Marcelo in 2020 (Top 21). This year's Miss Nicaragua / Miss Universe Nicaragua, who won her national title on August 6, is preparing to win her country's first Miss Universe later this year. In her own words, "I want to be the face that brings joy and excitement to Nicaraguans." After winning her national pageant, Norma took to social media and wrote in Spanish: "Thank you is the key word for this whole experience that I am living at this moment

Norma Huembes was crowned Miss Nicaragua 2022 (Miss Universe Nicaragua) on Saturday, August 6 at Centro De Convenciones Crown Plaza in Managua. The 24-year-old public accountant, representing Carazo, succeeds last year's winner Allison Wassmer and will represent her country at Miss Universe 2022. Katherine Burgos of Tipitapa was named first runner-up while Diana Navarro of Leon finished as second runner-up. Completing the Top 5 were Isabella Salgado of  Chinandega and Gabriela Calix of Cinco Pinos. A total of 10 contestants participated during this year's edition of Miss Nicaragua. Miss World 2021: Head to Head Challenge winners announced

After a busy couple of weeks interviewing each contestant in this year's Miss World Head to Head Challenge and the public votes have been tallied, the winners were finally revealed on Thursday, December 9 at the Capitolio De Puerto Rico in San Juan. The winners are contestants from Botswana , Palesa Mofele, Cameroon , Audrey Monkam, Cote D'Ivoire , Olivia Yacé, Nepal , Namrata Shrestha, Nicaragua , Sheynnis Palacios, Paraguay , Bethania Borba, Philippines , Tracy Perez, and Venezuela , Alejandra Conde. Miss World Cayman Islands, Colombia, Haiti, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam were the rest of the Top 16. This year broke records on the Mobstar Voting platform with 1.4 billion views and 70 million votes, making it busier this year than the last few years put together. Miss Universe Nicaragua 2021 is Allison Wassmer

Allison Wassmer was crowned Miss Nicaragua 2021 in a national competition held on Saturday, August 14 in Managua. The 26-year-old entrepreneur succeeds last year's winner and Miss Universe Top 21 Ana Marcelo. She represented Managua and bested six other finalists to win her title. Miss Rivas, Glennys Medina, and Miss Acoyapa, Zulema Bravo were the first and second runners-up, respectively. Miss Mundo Nicaragua 2021 is Mariela Cerros

Mariela Cerros was crowned Miss Mundo Nicaragua 2021 in a national competition that aired from the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Managua on Saturday, May 22. The 22-year-old marketing student from Nueva Segovia bested 11 other finalists to win her national title. She succeeded Sheynnis Palacios who will compete at Miss World 2021 in San Juan, Puerto Rico later this year. Kendal Suárez and María del Pilar Sequeira were named first and second runners-up, respectively, while Katherine Mora, Lyska Cuthbert, and Jatzary Salvatierra completed the Top 6.
