Miss World 2021 temporarily postpones global broadcast finale in Puerto Rico due to health and safety interests of contestants, staff, crew, and general public. The finale will be rescheduled at Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot within the next 90 days. SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - After meeting with the virologists and medical experts hired to oversee the Miss World 2021 event and discussing with the Puerto Rico Health Department, the decision has been made by the organizers of the event to postpone the globally broadcast finale at the Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot to be held within the next 90 days. As of yesterday, additional safety measures were implemented in the best interest of the contestants, production team, and spectators, understanding the event increased risks on the stage and in the dressing room. Several Miss World 2021 contestants have tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be permitted to appear on stage this Thursday at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While none of those who tested positive required hospitalization, they have to follow a mandatory 10-day isolation period according to the spokesperson of Puerto Rico's health department. Julia Morley, CEO of the Miss World Organization, also said they are following national guidelines and if the contestants don't produce a negative molecular PCR test, they won't be on stage for the final show. The Top 10 finalists of the Miss World 2021 Beauty With A Purpose have been officially announced on Monday, December 13. Beauty With A Purpose is an event established in the 70s that is celebrated during the activities prior to the Miss World pageant. It awards the contestant with the most relevant and important charity project in her nation. Since 2005 the winner automatically advances to the quarter-finals. After a busy couple of weeks interviewing each contestant in this year's Miss World Head to Head Challenge and the public votes have been tallied, the winners were finally revealed on Thursday, December 9 at the Capitolio De Puerto Rico in San Juan. The winners are contestants from Botswana , Palesa Mofele, Cameroon , Audrey Monkam, Cote D'Ivoire , Olivia Yacé, Nepal , Namrata Shrestha, Nicaragua , Sheynnis Palacios, Paraguay , Bethania Borba, Philippines , Tracy Perez, and Venezuela , Alejandra Conde. Miss World Cayman Islands, Colombia, Haiti, Indonesia, Mexico, Mongolia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam were the rest of the Top 16. Olivia Yacé of Cote D'Ivoire has won the Miss World 2021 Top Model competition held on Monday, December 6 where each contestant had the opportunity to showcase their best catwalk while wearing both national dress and designs made by Puerto Rican designers. The 23-year-old beauty will automatically advance to the quarter-final of the 70th Miss World final on Thursday, December 16 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Cameroon's Audrey Monkam and Puerto Rico's Aryam Díaz were in second and third places, respectively, while the representatives of Bahamas, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Poland, Venezuela, and Vietnam completed the Top 13. Miss World 2021 contestants' adventure in sunny Puerto Rico continued with a visit to the Sala sinfónica Pablo Casals in San Juan to attend a classical concert. Los Cuentos De “Mi Madre La Oca” translated as the Stories of Mother Goose was directed by the talented Karlo Flores, who took the beauties on a journey with both vocal and musical storytelling. The reigning Miss World Toni-Ann Singh also joined the contestants together with Mr World Jack Heslewood and former Miss World winners Stephanie Del Valle and Vanessa Ponce. “The comedic ending was fun to watch. Certain folk tale endings were twisted, for example in the Princess and the Pea, the pea turned to soup. Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2021 Michelle Marie Colón showed off her national costume for the 70th Miss Universe pageant on the "Viva la Tarde" program of Wapa TV. The national costume called "Protectora de Nuestras Costas” not only pays tribute to the Puerto Rican Afro-descendants but also carries a message of awareness for the conservation of the environment. Recycled materials such as plastic bottles, caps, and bags, some of the most common and harmful pollutants in the seas, were collected and transformed into art and music elements for this beautiful creation. Loíza representative, Michelle Colón, was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2021 in a glittering competition held on Thursday, September 30 in San Juan. The 21-year-old model and pre-medicine student who created the CARE Empowerment Program succeeds Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 and Miss Universe Top 10 finalist, Estefanía Soto. San Lorenzo’s Jaylene Marie Álvarez and Dorado’s Oxana Isabel Rivera were respectively named the first and second runners-up while Toa Baja’s Heilymar Rosario, Trujillo Alto’s Sthephanie Marie Miranda, and Villalba’s Gabriela Guzmán completed the Top 6. At a packed press conference today, it was announced that due to exceptional demand for tickets, the Miss World Final had been moved to Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot the largest indoor venue in the country! Tickets for the 16th December final are expected to go on sale from September 17th. The Coliseum, in San Juan is the biggest indoor arena in Puerto Rico and is dedicated to entertainment. Opened in 2004, ‘Choliseo’ as it is nicknamed, can accommodate up to 18,500 spectators. It has been voted as one of the top 10 arena venues in the world. The Top 5 of the Miss Supranational 2021 Top Model competition have been announced on Wednesday, August 18 at the Hotel Beskid in Nowy Sącz. Louise-Marie Losfeld (Belgium), Alice Li (China), Darelys Santos (Panama), Karla Guilfú Acevedo (Puerto Rico), and Amelia Michael Sky (South Sudan) were named the Top Models of their respective regions. Puerto Rico's Karla Guilfu was named Miss Elegance 2021 in a special red carpet event held at the Muszyna City Hall in Małopolska on Friday, August 13. Miss Supranational Philippines Dindi Pajares and Miss Supranational Dominican Republic Eoanna Constanza were the first and second runners-up, respectively. After three successful years, former Miss Universe Denise Quiñones has resigned as national director of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization. Under her directorship, Puerto Rico managed to achieve high placements at Miss Universe with Kiara Ortega (Top 5), Madison Anderson (first runner-up), and Estefanía Soto (Top 10). Wapa Televisión, franchise holder of Miss Universe made the announcement on Saturday, May 21. The network will continue to work with the reigning queen and prepare for the staging of the national competition's next edition that will kick off casting early next month. Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh has on the weekend arrived in Puerto Rico together with Miss World Organization's Julia Morley ahead of the Miss World 2021 competition on the island later this year. They were welcomed by former Miss World from Puerto Rico and Miss World 2021 organizer, Stephanie del Valle. It was Toni-Ann's first official trip since the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions happened. The Jamaican beauty said she was very excited about her visit as Puerto Rico is so much like her own country. During their official visit, they will attend meetings with local government officials and look at various locations to be selected for the 70th edition of the international pageant. Miss World 2021 is scheduled to be held on December 16 at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan.
