Denise Quiñones resigns as director of Miss Universe Puerto Rico

After three successful years, former Miss Universe Denise Quiñones has resigned as national director of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization.

Under her directorship, Puerto Rico managed to achieve high placements at Miss Universe with Kiara Ortega (Top 5), Madison Anderson (first runner-up), and Estefanía Soto (Top 10).

Wapa Televisión, franchise holder of Miss Universe made the announcement on Saturday, May 21. The network will continue to work with the reigning queen and prepare for the staging of the national competition's next edition that will kick off casting early next month.

Prior to becoming an actress, Denise was crowned Miss Universe 2001  at Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez in Bayamón. She was the fourth representative from Puerto Rico to win the pageant.

Miss Universe Philippines 2025, the sixth edition of the annual pageant has culminated last night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Heavy favorite Maria Ahtisa Manalo, 27, from Candelaria, Quezon Province, bagged the crown among 66 contestants following a tough competition. She will compete in Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand this November. The Philippines last won the Miss Universe crown in 2018 with Catriona Gray when the pageant was held in Bangkok, Thailand. This year, with another strong representation expected from the country, especially since it's being held in the same host location, the possibility of clinching the fifth crown seems quite achievable. Tonight, 66 of the world's most beautiful and empowered Filipinas will vie for the highly coveted title of Miss Universe Philippines 2025. Firsta Yufi Amarta Putri was crowned Puteri Indonesia 2025 on Saturday, May 2 at the Plenary Hall of the Jakarta International Convention Center in Jakarta. A total of 45 contestants from across the country battled it out to win the national title but the 23-year-old representative of Jawa Timur (East Java) emerged as the top winner. The rest of the Top 4 were Melliza Xaviera Putri Yulian of Jakarta SCR 1, Salma Ranggita of Sumatera Selatan 1, and Rinanda Maharani of Kalimantan Timur. Maria Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2025 on Friday, May 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. The 27-year-old from  Candelaria bested 65 other contestants to win the national title. She will represent the Philippines at Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand this November. No stranger to pageantry, Ahtisa is a former  Binibining Pilipinas International titleholder who went on to place first runner-up at the Miss International 2018 competition in Japan. She eventually joined Miss Universe Philippines 2024 and finished second runner-up. The national organization then awarded her the title of Miss Cosmo Philippines. The Mister Pilipinas Worldwide 2025 national final was held on Monday, April 28 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. Seven deserving winners who will represent the Philippines at various international male pageants have been chosen among 26 contestants. Plus-sized beauty Sara Milliken was crowned the National American Miss Alabama 2024 during the state final held on May 27 at the Renaissance Marriot in Montgomery. The 23-year-old model and mental health advocate from Atmore, Alabama is now expected to represent her home state at the National American Miss 2024 competition later this year. Kunda Mwamulima was crowned Miss Universe Zambia 2025 on Saturday, April 20 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC) in Lusaka. The 29-year-old registered nurse and model will now prepare to represent Zambia at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand this November. No stranger to pageantry, Kunda is a former Miss Earth Zambia titleholder who competed in Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam. She also joined the Top Model of the World competition in Egypt and made the Top 16.
