Reina Hispanoamericana 2023 is Maricielo Gamarra, back-to-back win for Peru

Peru's Maricielo Gamarra bested 26 other competitors to be crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2023 on Sunday, January 28 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The 29-year-old communications graduate succeeds last year's winner, also from Peru,  Arlette Rujel . She is the second Peruvian woman to win the international title. Fernanda Rojas of Venezuela was named Virreina Hispanoamericana 2023 while Cynthia Moura of Brazil, Michelle Arceo of the Philippines, Bianty Gomperts of Curaçao, and Paula Andrea Alarcón of Colombia were the first, second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Completing the Top 13 were Darla Reyes of Bolivia, Melissa Domínguez of the Dominican Republic, Juliana Robles of Ecuador, Chesy Anribka Mose of Indonesia, Vanessa Ortiz of Italy, Carolina Pérez of Mexico, and Sarahí Figueroa of Puerto Rico. No stranger to pageantry, the new Reina Hispanoamericana was first runner-up at Miss Peru 2020 and went on to compete in Miss Grand International 2020 in Bangkok

Indonesia to debut at Reina Hispanoamericana pageant

Indonesia is set to debut at Reina Hispanoamericana 2023 as Ivan Gunawan, founder of Yayasan Dunia Mega Bintang, has been officially announced as a license holder. The first-ever Reina Hispanoamericana Indonesia will be chosen among the Top 5 finalists of the upcoming Miss Mega Bintang Indonesia 2023 pageant. Originally called Reina Sudamericana until 2007, Reina Hispanoamericana is a Bolivia-based international beauty pageant organized by Promociones Gloria since 1991. It aims to celebrate the Hispanic heritage, language, and culture. The annual competition started welcoming representatives from beyond South America in 2004. Indonesia will now be the second Asian country to take part. In 2017, the Philippines joined for the first time and managed to bag the crown with Teresita Marquez. Fans have divided opinions on Indonesia joining the pageant. When compared to former Spanish colonies, the Muslim-majority country does not have as much Hispanic or Spanish influence evident in its cult
