Miss Grand Cambodia Chily Tevy has been named "Country Choice of the Year" after earning a total of 37,839,768 points from the fan votes. Indonesia came so close with 37,696,144 points followed by Colombia with 479,292 points, Ecuador with 475,618 points, and lastly, Brazil with 24,830 points. Miss Grand International 2020 Welcome Ceremony was held at Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Office on Friday, March 19. The contestants looked stunning in their fabulous evening gowns as they introduce themselves on stage. Over 60 beauties were officially welcomed by the Deputy Permanent Secretary for BMA, Wullaya Wattanarat, MGI executives, and the longest-reigning Miss Grand International Valentina Figuera of Venezuela. President and founder of Miss Grand International, Nawat Itsaragrisil, said that pushing to hold the pageant in Thailand despite the challenges of the pandemic can help kickstart its tourism industry, and again promote the country as one of the best and safest travel destinations in the world. The standouts in the event were from the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam. Lao-Belarusian beauty Christina Lasasimma to represent Laos at the 69th Miss Universe pageant

Christina Lasasimma has been officially crowned as Miss Universe Laos 2020 in a press conference held on Thursday, March 18 at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel in Vientiane. The 27-year-old Lao-Belarusian beauty was named Miss Laos in 2012 before pursuing a modeling career in Thailand. She studied to be a programmer and currently doing her MBA degree at the Dhurakij Pundit University in Bangkok. Former Miss Universe Laos titleholders, Souphaphone Somvichith (2017), On-anong Homsombath (2018), and Vichitta Phonevilay (2019) were also present during the special crowning ceremony. Christina became the fourth woman to represent Laos at the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Grand International 2020 contestants visit Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha)

Miss Grand International 2020 pre-pageant activities continue with today's visit to the beautiful Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). Wat Phra Kaew is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. The complex consists of a number of buildings within the precincts of the Grand Palace in the historical center of Bangkok. It houses the statue of the Emerald Buddha, which is venerated as the country's palladium. The contestants looked stunning in their traditional Thai costumes as they were photographed at the temple with the reigning Miss Grand International Valentina Figuera of Venezuela. Miss Grand International 2020 kicks off pre-pageant activities after quarantine

Following the mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine, the Miss Grand International 2020 contestants kicked off their pre-pageant activities in Bangkok. The week's highlights include their official photoshoots, Thai cooking class at Blue Elephant Cooking School and Restaurant, and a special dinner with MGI executives for the Top 5 pre-arrival campaign winners. Their activities will continue with another sightseeing and official visit ahead of the official welcome ceremony press conference and dinner. Miss Grand International 2020 'Queen with the Golden Crown' challenge Top 5

Miss Grand International 2020 contestants were challenged to edit the MGI crown on their heads and show their excited winning reactions. The Top 5 from the "Queen with the Golden Crown" challenge voted by the fans are the representatives of Cambodia, Chivly Liv, Colombia, Natalia Manrique, Brazil, Alaise Clementino Guedes, Ecuador, Sonia Augusta Luna, and Indonesia, Aurra Kharishma. Another round of online voting determines the winner who will be awarded as the country choice of the year and will automatically enter the final Top 20 on March 27.
