Brazil's Julia Gama to wear 'Queen of Cotton' national costume at the 69th Miss Universe pageant

Miss Universe Brazil 2020 Julia Gama will wear the "Queen of Cotton" national costume at the 69th Miss Universe pageant in Hollywood, Florida this May.

The costume created by fashion designer and stylist Michelly X features cotton and crystals on a transparent fabric. It highlights Brazil as one of the largest producers of cotton in the world.

In the last years, the country has occupied the fifth position in the production of cotton. It’s not by chance that the product is called “the white gold.”

"This year we have decided for a totally innovative typical costume in order to reverence the economic greatness of Brazil," Julia shared on social media.

"The costume of my dreams was made by the incredible and amazing hands of [Michelly X]. Having a costume designed by her is like a dream coming true and she has embraced this dream with so much love and dedication," she added.

Pedro Cordero, a 23-year-old model from Cártama (Málaga), was announced the winner of Mister Supranational 2026 during the pageant's 10th edition, which took place on Saturday, August 1, in Nowy Sącz, Poland. He became the second Spanish representative to claim the international male beauty title, following Iván Álvarez Guedes, who won in 2023. Vanessa Pulgarin from Colombia was proclaimed the winner MGI All Stars 2026 on Saturday, May 30 at MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. The 34-year-old model bested over 50 other contestants to win the first edition of the pageant. She is expected to return for the second edition to defend her title. The glittering Miss Turkey 2025 national competition was held last December 19 at the Lazzoni Hotel in Istanbul. A total of 20 stunning finalists were chosen to compete for the national titles that were at stake — Miss Turkey World and Miss Turkey Supranational. The 17th Miss Supranational beauty pageant was held on Friday, July 31 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sącz, Poland. Katrina Llegado, a 28-year-old financial management graduate from the Philippines, was crowned Miss Supranational 2026 by her predecessor Eduarda Braum of Brazil. She bested over 60 other contestants to win her country's second Miss Supranational crown after Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul.
