71st Miss Universe will be hosted in New Orleans on January 14


Miss Universe Organization has just announced on social media that the 71st Miss Universe pageant will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA on January 14, 2023.

The highly anticipated announcement read: "The moment you’ve been waiting for… The #71stMISSUNIVERSE Competition is heading to… NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA!"

This is the first time for Miss Universe to be hosted in Louisiana, a state in the Deep South and South Central regions of the United States. Further details on the upcoming competition were announced on the official Miss Universe mobile app.

Situated in the "Pelican State," the city of New Orleans is world-renowned for its distinctive music, Creole cuisine, unique dialects, and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras.

The historic heart of the city is the French Quarter, known for its French and Spanish Creole architecture and vibrant nightlife along Bourbon Street.

Around 70 "beautifully confident" women have already been selected to represent their respective countries in the world's most prestigious beauty competition. The event is expected to feature almost 90 contestants from around the globe.

Harnaaz Sandhu of India, the reigning Miss Universe, will crown her successor during the final show at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in Downtown New Orleans.

According to the MUO President Paula Shugart: "There is no place like New Orleans. This vibrant city has been at the top of our list to host for quite some time due to its rich cultural history, as well as its unique arts, entertainment, and culinary scene."

Miss Universe 2023: Meet the contestants

A total of 85 beauties from around the world will compete in the highly anticipated 72nd Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador this November. This year's competition will mark the debut of Pakistan and the returns of 10 countries consisting of Denmark, Egypt, Guyana, Hungary, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Norway, and Zimbabwe. Miss Venezuela 2023 is Ileana Marquez Pedroza of Amazonas

Miss Amazonas, Ileana Marquez Pedroza, was crowned Miss Venezuela 2023 (Miss Universe Venezuela 2024) on Thursday, December 7 at the Centro Comercial Líder in Caracas. The 27-year-old TV host and model bested 24 other contestants to win the 70th edition of the annual competition. She made history as the first-ever mother to hold the national title. Miss America 2024 will be the 96th edition of the Miss America pageant — the nation's leading provider of scholarships for young women. While the official date and venue of the national final have not yet been announced, all 51 state representatives have already been crowned. Apart from raising the age limits to between 18 and 28, the 2024 competition under the new CEO Robin Ross-Fleming will also see other changes. Mrs. South Dakota American Hannah Neeleman was crowned Mrs. American 2023 in a glittering competition held on Friday, August 25 at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Nevada. The 33-year-old rancher and entrepreneur bested over 40 other competitors to win the national title. Mister Global 2023 is Jason Dylan Bretfelean from India

Jason Dylan Bretfelean was proclaimed Mister Global 2023 during the 9th Mister Global edition held on Sunday, November 26 in Mahasarakham, Thailand. The 19-year-old business administration student, athlete, and model bested over 30 other competitors to win the international title. He became the first-ever Mister Global winner from India. Hong Kong's Oliver Cheung was named first runner-up while the contestants from Chile, Álvaro Flores Carvajal, Taiwan, Kevin Davalos Tai, and Vietnam, Le Huu Dat were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. The contestants vying for Miss Earth 2023 officially received their green sashes on Friday, December 1 with the presence of Miss Earth executive Peachy Veneracion and Miss Earth Vietnam's national director Truong Ngoc Anh. Maria Camila Avella Montañez was crowned Miss Universe Colombia 2023 in a national competition held on Saturday, September 2 at Centro de Eventos del Caribe in Puerta de Oro, Barranquilla. The 28-year-old model, content creator, and TV host representing Casanare bested over 20 other contestants to win the national title.
