FAVORITES: 71st Miss Universe Top 16 post-arrival favorites

The first week of the 71st Universe pageant has been packed with pre-pageant events and activities in New Orleans, world-renowned for its distinctive music, Creole cuisine, and annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras.

Witnessing the contestants together at the venue, while at their absolute best to make an impression on the universe, it became a little less difficult to spot the real frontrunners.

The much-awaited preliminary competition on January 11, where the contestants will be scored in their evening gowns and swimsuits, will of course further showcase the best of the best from the group.

Over 80 stunning contestants to choose from is no easy task and the selection committee will definitely have the most difficult job to determine who will make it to the semifinals.

Now that the contestants have arrived and the competition has officially begun, it's about time to update our list of favorites.

Binibining Pilipinas 2023: Where to watch final show livestream

Binibining Pilipinas 2023, the 59th edition of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, will be held tonight at "the Big Dome" Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. Forty of the country's most beautiful, graceful, and captivating Binibinis will battle it out to win the national crowns at stake — Miss Globe Philippines (for The Mis Globe 2023) and Miss International Philippines (for Miss International 2024). Miss Nepal 2023: Meet the 24 contestants

Miss Nepal 2023, the 27th edition of the Miss Nepal pageant presented by Dabur Vatika will be held on May 27 at the Godavari Sunrise Convention Center in Lalitpur. Following rounds of auditions across all provinces of the country, a total of 24 contestants were officially sashed last March 31 by The Hidden Treasure Director Diwakar Rajkarnikar at Park Village Resort, Budalinkantha. Three new titleholders will be crowned by outgoing queens Miss Nepal World 2022 Priyanka Rani Joshi, Miss Nepal Earth 2022 Sareesha Shrestha, and Miss Nepal International 2022 Nancy Khadka at the culmination of this year's event. Miss South Africa 2023 Top 30 contestants officially revealed

The Top 30 contestants vying to become Miss South Africa 2023 have been officially revealed on Wednesday, May 24 exclusively on the Miss SA App. From 30, only the Top 12, to be announced this June, will have the chance to move on to the finals whose date and venue have yet to be announced. Fan voting on the pageant's official app is now open and will close on Sunday, May 28 at 1 p.m. local time (SAST) so don't miss voting for your favorites to enter the next round of the competition. Miss Ohio USA 2023 is Mackenzie Schutt

Miss Central Ohio, Mackenzie Schutt was crowned Miss Ohio USA 2023 in a state competition held on Saturday, May 20 at The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts in Portsmouth. The 27-year-old model and personal trainer from Columbus holds a degree in kinesiology and exercise science from Calvin University (formerly Calvin College) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mackenzie joined the pageant several times before finally winning the title. She succeeds last year's winner and Miss USA 2022 third runner-up Sir'Quora Carroll, and will now represent the state of Ohio at Miss USA 2023 in Reno, Nevada this fall. Her runners-up for the state title were finalists Emily Quinn, Macy Hudson, Katarina Putnick, Argisa Deda, and Allison Greenwood. Miss Universe Australia 2023: Meet the finalists from Western Australia

The last group of finalists vying for Miss Universe Australia 2023 were announced during the Miss West Coast state final held on Wednesday, May 24 at The Camfield in Perth. Representing Western Australia in September's national final are Vimbayi Hakutangwi, Somaya O'Donnell, Natasha Huisman, Brooklyn Metropolis, Mary Lopez, and Khloe Hicks.
