Iceland's Helena O'Connor withdraws from Miss Universe 2025


The Miss Iceland Organization has announced today that Miss Universe Iceland 2025 Helena Hafþórsdóttir O'Connor has withdrawn from the 74th Miss Universe pageant.

In an official statement released on social media, the organization said that the 21-year-old psychology student from Viðey has been ill for the past few days.

The statement also stated: "She is thankfully recovering but we are devastated to announce that, due to personal reasons, she has made the difficult decision of withdrawing from the Miss Universe competition in Thailand."

Helena was crowned Ungfrú Ísland 2025 (Miss Iceland 2025) in Reykjavik last April. She earned the title of Miss Universe Iceland 2025 and the opportunity to represent her country at Miss Universe 2025.

Prior to her departure to join the prestigious pageant a week ago she said: "Representing my beautiful country on the Miss Universe stage is an honor beyond words. I carry with me the spirit and strength of Iceland."

The next Miss Universe will be crowned by outgoing queen Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark on November 21 at Impact Arena in Bangkok.

Miss Universe Venezuela 2025 is Clara Vegas of Miranda

Clara Vegas triumphed over 21 other contestants to win the title of Miss Universe Venezuela 2025 on Thursday, December 4 in Caracas. The 23-year-old model and actress from Miranda will represent Venezuela at the Miss Universe 2026 pageant to be held in Puerto Rico. Maria Evangelista Alayon of Amazonas was named first runner-up while Milena Paola Soto of Mérida, Gabriela de la Cruz of Yaracuy, and Gabriela Villegas of Monagas were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Finland to host the inaugural Miss Face International pageant

Finland, the happiest country in the world, is getting in on the international pageant scene and will host a global beauty contest for the first time ever. The "land of a thousand lakes" is set to stage the inaugural Miss Face International pageant in the summer of 2026. According to the organizer, Miss Face International will not only highlight the cultures of various countries but will also act as a networking platform for women worldwide. The pageant's slogan is "Connecting Beauty" and it aims to help women progress in their careers, develop their personal brand, and boost self-awareness on a global level. Miss Universe Japan 2025 is Kaori Hashimoto from Tochigi Prefecture

Kaori Hashimoto was crowned Miss Universe Japan 2025 in a national competition held on Wednesday, July 16 in Shibuya. The 21-year-old business administration student from Tochigi Prefecture beat over 40 other contestants to win the national title. Saki Fujita and Reina Ishii were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Chiemi Takayama and Naomi Monique Kamidate were the rest of the Top 5 finalists. Miss Universe Aruba 2024 is Anouk Eman

Anouk Eman bested five other competitors to win Miss Universe Aruba 2024 on Saturday, August 10 at the Aruba Marriott Grand Ballroom. The 32-year-old fashion model and scoliosis awareness advocate will represent Aruba at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico this November. She succeeds last year's winner Karol Croes. Veena Praveenar Singh bested 76 other contestants to win Miss Universe Thailand 2025 in a spectacular show on Saturday, August 23 at MGI Hall in Bangkok. The 29-year-old beauty representing the province of Saraburi will now prepare to compete in the upcoming Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand this November. Polish-American Emily Reng was officially announced by the Miss Polonia organization as Miss Universe Poland 2025 on Wednesday, October 22. The 20-year-old will now prepare to represent Poland at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand this coming November.
