Miss World Canada 2022 is Emma Morrison

Emma Morrison was crowned Miss World Canada 2022 from a field of 50 competitors during the national pageant on Sunday, November 13 at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts in Ontario. The 22-year-old proud Muskegowuk Cree woman and indigenous crafts artist from Chapleau made history by becoming the first-ever Cree First Nations titleholder. Apart from the national title, she also bagged the coveted Beauty With A Purpose award for her "Reconnecting Through Ribbon Skirts" initiative oriented towards the empowerment of indigenous women from a young age. Chinese-Canadian Amelia Tu triumphed over 50 other contestants to be crowned Miss Universe Canada 2022 in a national competition held on Thursday, May 14 at the Meridian Arts Centre in Toronto. The 20-year-old biology and business student at Universe of California, Berkeley hails from Vancouver, BC. She succeeds Tamara Jemuovic and will represent Canada at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant later this year. Madison Kvaltin was named first runner-up while Yuliya Shcherban finished second runner-up. Sophie Church and Oceanne Gemme-Rose were the third and fourth runners-up, respectively. Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco lashed out at the team behind Miss Universe Canada Nova Stevens for allegedly spreading rumors about him trying to sabotage her chances at the Miss Universe pageant with late arrivals of ill-fitted gowns. Miss Universe Canada's MGmode Communications said, "The truth needs to be told! The gown was sent late by Michael’s team, and when it arrived none of them fitted! We were able to fix one for the finals but the one for prelims, we didn’t have time."
