The last group of finalists vying for Miss Universe Australia 2023 were announced during the Miss West Coast state final held on Wednesday, May 24 at The Camfield in Perth. Representing Western Australia in September's national final are Vimbayi Hakutangwi, Somaya O'Donnell, Natasha Huisman, Brooklyn Metropolis, Mary Lopez, and Khloe Hicks. Following South Australia and Queensland, two more states selected their respective representatives for the Miss Universe Australia 2023 national final. The state final for New South Wales was held on Friday, May 19 at Café del Mar in Sydney. Four finalists have been announced from the premiere state — Vitoria Camporeale, Tash Knox, Sené Maluwapi, and Farida Rakhmanova. On Sunday, May 21, the Victoria state final was held at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins where a total of seven winners emerged. The national finalists from the garden state are Claire Rossier, Brooke Bailey, Alexandra Danielle Lim, Moraya Wilson, Maddison Cottle, Johara Pillay, and Lauren Walker. Anjelica Whitelaw has been officially announced by Karen Jane Productions as Miss International Australia 2022 on Tuesday, October 11. The 26-year-old Sydney-born Filipino-Australian lawyer will represent Australia at the 60th Miss International pageant in Tokyo, Japan this December. A graduate of a bachelor's degree in communication and recently a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Technology Sydney, Anjelica currently works as a lawyer at a commercial law firm in Sydney. In her spare time, the proud bilingual whose Filipino mother hails from Pampanga, Philippines, enjoys traveling and exploring new cuisines with her family and friends. Monique Riley of New South Wales has been crowned as Miss Universe Australia 2022 on Friday, September 9 at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The 27-year-old model, actress, and executive assistant with a degree in creative industries from the Queensland University of Technology will now prepare to represent Australia at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. She succeeds last year's titleholder, Daria Varlamova. The 23-year-old beauty who hails from Mornington, Victoria is a biomedical student and a scuba diving instructor.
