Miss International 2023: Meet the contestants

Miss International 2023, the 61st edition of the Miss International pageant is about to officially begin in Tokyo, Japan. More than 70 international beauties from different countries and territories are expected to arrive in "the land of the rising sun" and compete for the highly coveted international title. This year's edition will mark the debuts of Albania, Bangladesh, Lesotho, and Pakistan and the returns of Angola, Côte D'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Estonia, Ghana, Lithuania, Martinique, Moldova, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe. The much-awaited final and coronation show will be held at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Shibuya. Reigning Miss International Jasmin Selberg of Germany will crown her successor at the end of the event. Miss International Malaysia 2023 is Cassandra Yap

Cassandra Yap bested 16 other finalists to win Miss International Malaysia 2023 on Sunday, October 1 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Kota Kinabalu. The 26-year-old fashion designer and model from Johor succeeds last year's titleholder Giselle Tay and will now prepare to represent Malaysia at Miss International 2023 in Tokyo, Japan on October 26. Kimberly Vung, Christina Lee and Aaliyah Wunsch were announced as the first, second, and third runners-up, respectively, while Hanah Musa, Lilyannie Christie, and Rindsay Rachelle rounded out the Top 8. Bangladesh to debut at Miss International with Farzana Yasmin Ananna

Farzana Yasmin Ananna was recently crowned Miss International Bangladesh 2023 and she will be the first representative of her country at Miss International. The 23-year-old model, politician, and women and gender studies graduate will soon travel to Tokyo, Japan to compete in the 61st Miss International pageant. Farzana lost her mother just a few hours before winning her national title. In a post on social media, she shared: "Even amidst my struggles, I'm determined. I am on the brink of making history as the first-ever Bangladeshi to grace the Miss International stage." Teresa Sara to represent Angola at Miss International 2023

Former Miss Grand Angola, Teresa Sara, was crowned Miss International Angola 2023 in a special ceremony held on Saturday, September 16 in Luanda. The 26-year-old model, social volunteer, philanthropist, and lawyer received her crown from Stephany Amado, Miss International 2022 first runner-up from Cape Verde. No stranger to pageantry, Teresa took part in Miss Universe Angola 2022 where she represented Zaire and placed in the Top 10. She was then appointed to compete in the 10th Miss Grand International pageant last October in Indonesia. Miss International Cambodia 2023 is Alyna Somnang

Former Miss Universe Cambodia, Alyna Somnang, has been officially appointed by the Miss Cambodia organization as Miss International Cambodia 2023. The 22-year-old model and actress who is currently pursuing her MBA degree in international relations will represent her country at the 61st Miss International pageant. No stranger to pageantry, Alyna was previously crowned Miss Universe Cambodia 2019 and went on to participate in the 68th Miss Universe which was held in Georgia, USA. The new Miss International Cambodia is an advocate for education who has been actively promoting the importance of staying in school during her various community projects since 2019. She wants to encourage the youth to study hard and achieve their dreams to break the chain of poverty. Miss International Canada 2023 is Melanie Renaud

Melanie Renaud bested 17 other competitors to be crowned Miss International Canada 2023 on Saturday, September 9 at the Capitol Theatre in Windsor, Ontario. The 26-year-old digital journalism and communications graduate of the University of Windsor will now prepare to represent Canada in the upcoming Miss International 2023 in Tokyo, Japan. Jessica Bailey and Aslihan Morali were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Anmol Dosanjh, Arsh Thind, Kim Do, Maria Jose Acosta, and Svetlana Mamaeva were the rest of the Top 8 finalists. Miss Denmark 2023 third runner-up Julie Brink has been officially announced as Miss International Denmark 2023. The 26-year-old law student from Copenhagen will now represent Denmark at Miss International 2023 in Tokyo, Japan this October. She succeeds last year's titleholder Dana Myrvig, No stranger to pageantry, the new Miss International Denmark first participated in Miss Denmark 2021 and bagged the Best Public Speaker award. Miss International Canada 2023 final competition will take place this Saturday, September 9 at the Capitol Theatre in Windsor, Ontario. A total of 22 contestants have been announced competing for the national title. The winner will receive an all-expenses, paid trip to represent Canada at Miss International 2023 in Tokyo, Japan this October. Last year's titleholder, Madison Kvaltin, placed in the Top 8 at Miss International 2022. She was recently crowned Miss Universe Canada 2023 and will be heading to El Salvador this November for Miss Universe 2023. Morgan Doelwijt was crowned Miss International Netherlands 2023 during the Miss Beauty All Stars 2023 grand coronation on Saturday, September 2 at Stadstheater Zoetermeer. The 25-year-old beauty representing Utrecht bested 11 other competitors to win the national competition which was held for former Miss Beauty of the Netherlands winners. Kimberley Ijsbrandij of Flevoland and Christina Lazaros of Groningen were announced as the first and second runners-up, respectively. The new Miss International Netherlands is no stranger to pageantry as she has previously held the titles Miss Beauty of Utrecht and Miss Asia Pacific Netherlands. Supaporn Ritthipruek was crowned Miss Thailand International 2023 in a national competition held on Sunday, September 3 at the True Icon Hall, Iconsiam in Bangkok, Thailand. The 25-year-old model currently pursuing her master's of education in learning management will now prepare to represent Thailand at Miss International 2023 in Japan this October.
