Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023 Karla Guilfú Acevedo has revealed the national costume "Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian" which she will showcase in the upcoming Miss Universe 2023 pageant in El Salvador. Designed by Joshuan Aponte in collaboration with Fabián De la Fuente for the accessories, the national costume is a tribute to the architecture of Old San Juan and the San Sebastian Street Festivals. The skirt was crafted from velvet and black sequins in an elegant trumpet cut and is adorned with hundreds of handcrafted cobblestones, each painted to replicate Old San Juan's iconic blue cobblestones. Designed by Jorge Salazar Caliz, Sheynnis' national costume was inspired by her likeness to the "El Zanate" (Nicaraguan grackle). The Nicaraguan grackle is a species of passerine bird in the family Icteridae endemic to Central America. This species lives only around the lakes of Nicaragua and in northern Costa Rica. In a post on social media, Miss Nicaragua shared in Spanish: "Opening my wings to the wind I am the elegant and beautiful grackle of jet black colors, with iridescent tones and beautiful song." Nominzul Zandangiin was crowned Miss Universe Mongolia 2023 in a national competition held on Tuesday, October 10 at the Zaisan Hill Complex in Ulaanbaatar. The 18-year-old model and student, who is pursuing a bachelor's degree in accountancy at the National University of Mongolia, beat 16 other competitors to earn her title. She will now prepare to represent Mongolia at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) whose final is set to be held in El Salvador this coming November. Mongolia, an East Asian country known for its vast, rugged expanses and nomadic culture, made its debut at Miss Universe in 2018 with Dolgion Delgerjav. The 24-year-old beauty representing the region of Marche holds a degree in electronics engineering and currently pursuing her master's in biorobotics.
