Miss World South Africa 2023 is Claude Mashego

Dr Claude Mashego was crowned Miss World South Africa 2023 during the inaugural edition of the national pageant held on Saturday, October 28 at The South African State Theatre in Pretoria. The 24-year-old medical doctor bested 11 other finalists to win the national title. She is now expected to represent South Africa at the 71st Miss World competition. Alyssa Joan Smith and Zoalize Jansen Van Rensburg were named the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Motheo Mokoto and Asande Mchunu rounded out the Top 5 finalists. Reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska from Poland graced the event with the chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization Julia Morley. Former South African Miss World Rolene Strauss was also present as one of the distinguished judges. The new Miss World South Africa hails from Acornhoek, Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga. From over 50 semifinalists, only the Top 12 have been announced to continue to the Miss World South Africa 2023 national final this October. This year's pageant will be the first edition of a standalone Miss World South Africa competition since Carol Bouwer Productions (CBP) took over the license from the Miss South Africa organization last May. The next Miss World South Africa is expected to participate in the upcoming 71st Miss World (Miss World 2023) final in Mumbai, India this December. Who will be crowned Miss World South Africa 2023? Reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska visits South Africa, meet new license holder

Reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska arrived in Cape Town, South Africa this week with Miss World CEO Julia Morley for a 6-day visit to the rainbow nation. In addition to humanitarian purposes, their official visit also includes the launch of the new Miss World South franchise under Carol Bouwer Productions.  According to Miss World, the new license holder has a long history with the organization having presented the MNET coverage of Miss World 1994 at Sun City. "Carol understands the importance of our cherished theme of Beauty With A Purpose, which underpins all Miss World activities around the world. Carol's passion, integrity, and creativity will take Beauty With A Purpose to the next level," Miss World posted on social media. Former Miss World from South Africa, Rolene Strauss also extended her support and said, "I wish Carol great success with Miss World South Africa and I offer her my full  support as she begins her journey."
