Martín Machiñena of Uruguay wins Mister Tourism World 2022

Martín Machiñena of Uruguay was proclaimed Mister Tourism World 2022 on Saturday, February 4 at La Benue Event Center in Cabanatuan City, Philippines. The 20-year-old model, actor, musician, athlete, and communications student from Montevideo bested over 20 other competitors to win the title. He succeeded the 2021 winner from the Dominican Republic, Jonathan Anotonio Checo. Marcio Ting of Brazil was named first runner-up while Niwat Naknuan of Thailand finished as second runner-up. Rounding out the Top 6 finalists were Ivan Pimentel of the Dominican Republic, Manos Panarketakis of Greece, and Phung Phuoc Thinh of Vietnam. The rest of the Top 17 semifinalists were the representatives from Canada, Cuba, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, USA, and Venezuela. Miss Mundo Uruguay 2022 Top 8 finalist Carla Romero has been officially revealed as Miss Universe Uruguay 2022. She succeeds Miss Universe Uruguay 2020, Lola de los Santos. The 24-year-old business administration graduate and an image consultant from Montevideo will represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Louisiana this January. Carla went to social media on Thursday, September 2022 to personally announce the news to her followers with a new photo captioned "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams." "We’re ready Universe! Uruguay is here to play. I’m your Miss Universe Uruguay 2022," she added. The new Miss Universe Uruguay also has a message for her supporters: "Thank you to all who believe in me and my potential. I invite you to join me in this adventure." Since joining Miss Universe for the first time in 1952 with Gladys Rubio Fajardo, Uruguay skipped only four editions including last year. The South American count
