Rashana Hydes bested four other beauties to be crowned Miss World Cayman Islands 2021. She succeeded Miss World Cayman Islands 2019 Jaci Patrick. The 24-year-old mental health advocate from West Bay holds a bachelor's degree in hospitality management. She can be described as ambitious, fair-minded, and artistic, who is passionate about various forms of creative expression. Sydonie Barrett and Alyssa West were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Krista Ebanks and Jesika Calderin-Ebanks completed the Top 5 finalists. Mexicana Universal Organización has been officially named Debora Hallal as Miss Universe Mexico 2021 on Monday, May 31. The 24-year-old beauty who hails from Los Mochis holds a degree in business administration. She represented Sinaloa in Mexicana Universal 2020 competition where she placed first runner-up. Debora succeeded Andrea Meza, who was crowned Miss Universe 2020 last month in Florida, USA. The newly appointed Miss Universe Mexico will try to pull off a back-to-back win for her country in the 70th Miss Universe pageant (Miss Universe 2021) on a date and venue yet to be announced. Solange Hermoza Rivera was officially named Miss Supranational Peru 2021 last Thursday, May 27. The 26-year-old actress from La Libertad holds a bachelor's degree in business engineering. She was first runner-up during Miss Peru 2020 national competition. Also announced by Miss Peru Organization on its official social media platforms was Mister Supranational Peru 2021 Varo Vargas. Solange and Varo will represent Peru at the Miss Supranational and Mister Supranational 2021 competitions, respectively, in Poland this August. The finalists of Miss Nederland 2021 (Miss Netherlands 2021) pageant have been revealed over the weekend at Studio 21 in Hilversum. During the casting day, around 50 beauties presented themselves in front of the distinguished panel of judges including former titleholders. The 10 selected finalists are Marlies Smedinga, Esmee Cornet, Benthe van der Kleij, Eleanor Dingemans, Julia Sinning, Myrthe van der Vlies, Shizen Wong, Kim van der Vlies, Maud van Oossanen and Isa de Bruin. They will be featured in a TV program and follow various training courses and workshops leading up to the final on a date yet to be announced. William Badell was named Mister Supranational Venezuela 2021 in a special competition aired by Globovisión on Thursday, May 27. The 24-year-old model, cabin crew, and social communication student edged out four other finalists to win his title. "Yesterday was an unforgettable night that will always remain in my mind and my heart. I love my new family very much," he shared on social media. Juan Pablo Dos and Juan Alberto García were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Francesco Piscitelli and Jean Franco Petit completed the Top 5. The reigning Miss Grand International Abena Appiah has kicked off her first international tour since winning her title. She is scheduled to visit the US, Ecuador, and Mexico. Now based in Thailand for her reign, Abena left the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on Saturday, May 29 for her first destination, the USA. Part of her month-long itinerary is to attend as a special guest at the Miss Mexico 2021 pageant in Chihuahua this July. For the first time in history, the Miss South Africa pageant is now open for transgender women to participate. According to the Miss South Africa organization, interested applicants need to have a valid South African ID document that shows "female" as their amended sex in order to be eligible to compete. South Africa has been blazing a trail in a continent where many countries still consider homosexuality taboo. The rainbow nation was the fifth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. Out of the 54 states recognized by the United Nations or African Union or both, the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association stated in 2015 that homosexuality is outlawed in 34 African countries. Spain's Angela Ponce became the first-ever transgender woman to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. Valentina Sánchez was crowned Miss Supranational Venezuela 2021 in a special competition aired by Globovisión on Thursday, May 27. The 25-year-old radio and TV producer, and international business specialist bested four other finalists to win the national title. Elizabeth Gasiba was named first runner-up while Verónica Dugarte finished as second runner-up. Dreissmar Soto and Nathaly Flores were the third and fourth runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Supranational Venezuela is no stranger to pageantry as she won Miss New Jersey Teen USA 2014, placed second runner-up at Miss New Jersey USA 2020, and Top 5 finalist at Miss Venezuela 2020 pageant representing Nueva Esparta.
