Miss Universe Thailand 2020 is Amanda Obdam


Amanda Obdam was crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2020 in a glittering competition held on Saturday, October 10 at the TRUE ICON Hall, ICONSIAM in Bangkok. She succeeds last year’s winner and Miss Universe Top 5 finalist, Paweensuda Drouin.

The 27-year-old Thai-Canadian model from Phuket who holds a degree in business administration and economics triumphed over 28 other finalists to win the coveted national beauty title.

In response to her final question, she said: “If I were to represent Thailand, honestly, I will just show everyone myself because I often get critiqued of being half, half-Thai half-Canadian, but what I wanna say here today is I am Thai. I was born to a Thai mother and I couldn’t have been more Thai so I wanna show you all of me, all of my Thainess because I am Thai.”

The new Miss Universe Thailand was handed over the title with the new “Power of Authenticity” crown worth 3.5 million baht crafted by a world-leading jewelry brand Mouawad. She will represent her country at the 69th Miss Universe pageant, whose date and venue are yet to be announced.

Praveenar Singh and Punika Kulsoontornrut were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Praewwanich Ruangthong and Alexandra Hänggi completed the Top 5.

The rest of the Top 10 were Chanakarn Suksatit, Patitta Suntivijj, Emmy Kym Sawyer, Thaweeporn Phinchamrat, and Benjarat Akkarawanichsil Aebi.

Thailand is yet to win its third Miss Universe. The country first won the title in 1965 with Apasra Hongsakula and the last time was in 1988 with Porntip Nakhirunkanok.

Miss Universe 2023: Meet the contestants

A total of 85 beauties from around the world will compete in the highly anticipated 72nd Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador this November. This year's competition will mark the debut of Pakistan and the returns of 10 countries consisting of Denmark, Egypt, Guyana, Hungary, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Norway, and Zimbabwe. Miss Venezuela 2023 is Ileana Marquez Pedroza of Amazonas

Miss Amazonas, Ileana Marquez Pedroza, was crowned Miss Venezuela 2023 (Miss Universe Venezuela 2024) on Thursday, December 7 at the Centro Comercial Líder in Caracas. The 27-year-old TV host and model bested 24 other contestants to win the 70th edition of the annual competition. She made history as the first-ever mother to hold the national title. Miss America 2024 will be the 96th edition of the Miss America pageant — the nation's leading provider of scholarships for young women. While the official date and venue of the national final have not yet been announced, all 51 state representatives have already been crowned. Apart from raising the age limits to between 18 and 28, the 2024 competition under the new CEO Robin Ross-Fleming will also see other changes. Mrs. South Dakota American Hannah Neeleman was crowned Mrs. American 2023 in a glittering competition held on Friday, August 25 at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Nevada. The 33-year-old rancher and entrepreneur bested over 40 other competitors to win the national title. She succeeds last year's titleholder Krisdee Clark of South Carolina and is now expected to compete next in the Mrs. World 2023 pageant. Mister Global 2023 is Jason Dylan Bretfelean from India

Jason Dylan Bretfelean was proclaimed Mister Global 2023 during the 9th Mister Global edition held on Sunday, November 26 in Mahasarakham, Thailand. The 19-year-old business administration student, athlete, and model bested over 30 other competitors to win the international title. He became the first-ever Mister Global winner from India. Hong Kong's Oliver Cheung was named first runner-up while the contestants from Chile, Álvaro Flores Carvajal, Taiwan, Kevin Davalos Tai, and Vietnam, Le Huu Dat were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Miss Earth 2023 competition kicks off, contestants officially sashed

The contestants vying for Miss Earth 2023 officially received their green sashes on Friday, December 1 with the presence of Miss Earth executive Peachy Veneracion and Miss Earth Vietnam's national director Truong Ngoc Anh. Around 80 eco beauties from the world have already arrived in the host country. Their sashing ceremony took place at Wink Hotels, their official residence hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Maria Camila Avella Montañez was crowned Miss Universe Colombia 2023 in a national competition held on Saturday, September 2 at Centro de Eventos del Caribe in Puerta de Oro, Barranquilla. The 28-year-old model, content creator, and TV host representing Casanare bested over 20 other contestants to win the national title. She made history by being the first ever mother and married woman to become Miss Universe Colombia.
