69th Miss Universe pageant to air live from Florida in May


The Miss Universe Organization has officially announced on Wednesday, March 3 that the 69th Miss Universe pageant will air live from Hollywood, Florida on May 16.

After a year and a half, the longest-reigning Miss Universe from South Africa, Zozibini Tunzi will crown her successor at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood.

Paula Shugart, MUO president said in a press release they have spent months planning a safe competition that will follow the same guidelines as last year’s Miss USA pageant in Memphis.

Over 60 beauties from around the world have already been confirmed to participate in the upcoming prestigious event.

Florida has already hosted 16 editions of Miss Universe and the last time was in 2014 where Colombia’s Paulina Vega won the coveted title.

Ten women have been selected for the opportunity to compete for the national title currently held by last year's winner Melissa Ingraham . From 60 beauties who participated during the casting day, only 16 will now move on as finalists for Miss Universe Netherlands 2024. The selection event and official announcement of the Top 16 finalists took place on Saturday, April 13 at Studio 21 in Hilversum. Previously held by Monica van Ee of the Miss Nederland organization, the license for Miss Universe Netherlands has been taken over this year by Milou Verhoeks of the Miss Beauty of the Netherlands. Elizabeth Laker was crowned Miss RNB EspaƱa 2024 (Miss Supranational Spain 2024) on Saturday, April 13 at Teatre Auditori de Salou (TAS). The 25-year-old personal trainer and makeup artist from Arona, Tenerife succeeds last year's winner Lola Wilson.
