Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) opens registration for 2021 competition

The Silverbird Group, Nigeria’s leading multi-media conglomerate and organizers of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant, has officially announced the 2021 edition of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the country.

MBGN beauty pageant has discovered, produced, and nurtured exceptional young ladies since its inception over three decades ago, including former Miss World Agbani Darego, lawmaker Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu, Bianca Ojukwu, Adaeze Igwe-Yobo, actress and singer Munachi Abii, and more recently Nyekachi Douglas, the reigning Miss World Africa among many others.

Participants for this year’s edition will all be screened virtually online, in observance of COVID-19 safety protocols.

To participate in the 2021 MBGN, candidates are expected to first visit the website: www.mbgnsilverbird.com. Then pay the registration fee of N10,000 naira, fill in the registration form, and upload a one-minute video stating why they want to participate in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant. This video must be accompanied by two photographs; a 5 by 7 headshot and a full-length swimwear picture.

Participants should also post their entry videos on Instagram using the hashtag #mbgn2021 then tag and follow @silverbirdtv, @937rhythmfm, @mbgn_silverbird.

The 2021 MBGN pageant is open to beautiful young Nigerian ladies from across the country and the diaspora who are between the ages of 18 and 25 and have the minimum educational qualification of a secondary school certificate. Pageant hopefuls must also have a valid Nigerian international passport, as the overall winner and first runner-up will represent Nigeria at the Miss World and Miss Universe international pageants.

Silverbird Group president and Miss World/Miss Universe national director, Guy Murray-Bruce, has promised that the contestants and the general public will be hosted to a spectacular ceremony when the grand finale holds on September 18 in Lagos.

Miss Greater Bridgeport, Shavana Clarke was crowned Miss Connecticut USA 2024 on Sunday, April 14 at Marriott Hartford Windsor Airport in Windsor, Connecticut. The 29-year-old model and mental health advocate will now prepare to represent the state of Connecticut at Miss USA 2024 in California this August. Danika Christopherson, representing The Village, was crowned Miss Oklahoma USA 2024 on Sunday, April 14 at OCCC Performing Arts Center Theater in Oklahoma City Community College. Christianna Katsieri has been officially announced as Miss Universe Greece 2024 by the Star & Mr GS Hellas organization. The 22-year-old model has previously held the title Miss GS Hellas 2022 and became Miss Earth Greece 2023. She went on to represent Greece at Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam last December. Miss Universe Netherlands 2024: Meet the Top 16 finalists

From 60 beauties who participated during the casting day, only 16 will now move on as finalists for Miss Universe Netherlands 2024. The selection event and official announcement of the Top 16 finalists took place on Saturday, April 13 at Studio 21 in Hilversum. Previously held by Monica van Ee of the Miss Nederland organization, the license for Miss Universe Netherlands has been taken over this year by Milou Verhoeks of the Miss Beauty of the Netherlands. Last year's winner under Miss Nederland was Rikkie Valerie Kollé , the first-ever transgender woman to represent the Netherlands at the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss Universe Philippines organization has officially announced former Miss Universe of the USA, R'Bonney Gabriel as host of the upcoming Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation night. To recall, R'Bonney was crowned Miss Universe 2022 during the the 71st Miss Universe pageant held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans in January 2023. The Filipino-American fashion designer became the second Asian-American woman to win the Miss Universe title since Brook Lee (Miss Universe 1997) and so far, the oldest winner at 28 years old, succeeding Andrea Meza of Mexico. Elizabeth Laker was crowned Miss RNB España 2024 (Miss Supranational Spain 2024) on Saturday, April 13 at Teatre Auditori de Salou (TAS). The 25-year-old personal trainer and makeup artist from Arona, Tenerife succeeds last year's winner Lola Wilson.
