SPOTLIGHT: Miss Universe Iceland 2020 Elísabet Hulda Snorradóttir

Iceland will be represented by Elísabet Hulda Snorradóttir in the upcoming 69th Miss Universe pageant in Hollywood, Florida, USA.

The 22-year-old beauty is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chinese studies at the University of Iceland. Her fascination with travel and culture has led her to visit 20 countries and finance her own trips to Japan, South Korea, and China. She attended language school in Japan and speaks conversational Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), and Korean.

Her community service involvement in Iceland revolves around the Icelandic Red Cross and “Tölum Saman,” a program that teaches immigrants the Icelandic language so they can successfully enter the job markets and educational systems.

Elísabet also works with “Bumbuloni,” a charity that provides financial support to families with chronically ill children. Becoming an actress or journalist are Elísabet’s long-term goals because she’d be able to combine her passions for international travel and communication.

She hopes to use her platform to educate others on different cultures, championing the thought that we all have so much to learn from each other as global citizens.

In her latest post on her official social media page, she wrote a thank-you message to her supporters. She said, "I’m forever grateful for all the support everyone has shown me."

Iceland has yet to win the Miss Universe pageant. Its highest placement at the competition was first runner-up in 1962 with Anna Geirsdóttir.

The 69th Miss Universe pageant will air live from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Sunday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET.

Miss Okemos, Alma Cooper was crowned Miss Michigan USA 2024 on Sunday, April 21 at McMorran Entertainment Center in Port Huron, Michigan. The 22-year-old scholar, advocate and US Army officer will now prepare to represent Michigan at Miss USA 2024 in Hollywood, California this August. Alma holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the United States Military Academy at West Point. The second lieutenant officer is also a Knight-Hennessy Scholar, currently pursuing her master's degree in data science at Stanford University in California. Fashion model Sakhile Dube has been officially revealed as one of the contestants vying for Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2024. The 27-year-old fashionista, representing Bulawayo, is currently pursuing fashion design and styling studies at the Milan School of Fashion in Italy. No stranger to pageantry, Sakhile previously held the title of Miss Earth Zimbabwe and represented her country at Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines. She finished in the Top 8 among 85 contestants.
