Miss Universe Colombia 2022 is María Fernanda Aristizábal

Former Señorita Colombia María Fernanda Aristizábal has been announced as the newly appointed Miss Universe Colombia 2022 in a press conference held at Hotel Dann Carlton Medellin on Wednesday, April 6.

The 24-year-old model and social communicator from Quindio succeeds Valeria Ayos and will now prepare to represent her country at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant later this year.

"I am absolutely convinced that in life everything happens correctly, that we are the result of a perfect chance that places each one of us in the place, time, and situation that we must go through," she shared on social media after being named Miss Universe Colombia 2022.

"Today I feel happy and proud to call myself once again: COLOMBIA, although I never stopped feeling the flag in my heart, I had a hunch that this cycle still had pending and I was not wrong," she added.

"I want to thank God for being so generous and for giving me the honor of being an ambassador of my country to the Universe."

María Fernanda has won the Señorita Colombia title in 2019 and was expected to compete in Miss Universe 2020 but the national franchise changed owners and the new director Natalie Ackermann organized the first-ever Miss Universe Colombia competition in Barranquilla.

Colombia has won the Miss Universe pageant twice with Miss Universe 1958 Luz Marina Zuluaga and Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega.
