Miss Universe Malta 2022 is Maxine Formosa Gruppetta


Maxine Formosa Gruppetta was officially announced as the newly appointed Miss Universe Malta 2022 in a special press conference and crowning ceremony held at InterContinental Malta in St. George's Bay, St. Julian's on Sunday, April 10.

The 21-year-old legal assistant from St. Julian's was second runner-up during last year's Miss Universe Malta competition. She succeeds Jade Cini and will now prepare to represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant (Miss Universe 2022) later this year.

"I am so grateful to the [Miss Universe Malta] organization for giving me this wonderful opportunity to represent my country at [Miss Universe]. I promise to make Malta proud," she shared on social media after her coronation.

María Vargas of Jalisco beat over 30 other contestants to win Miss Universe Mexico 2026 on Saturday, August 29 at Tierra Sagrada in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. The 28-year-old model and businesswoman from Guadalajara will represent Mexico at Miss Universe 2026 in Puerto Rico this November. Mariana Macías of Michoacán finished as first runner-up while Fernanda Abaroa of Guerrero, Génesis Vera of Veracruz, and Ximena Ochoa of Ciudad de México placed second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively.
