Miss Universe Malta 2024 is Beatrice Njoya of Saint Paul's Bay

Miss Saint Paul's Bay, Beatrice Njoya, bested over 20 other contestants to win Miss Universe Malta 2024 on Thursday, July 11 at the Hilton Malta in St Julian's. The 39-year-old proud mother of three, originally from Cameroon, will represent Malta at the 73rd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2024) in Mexico this November. Beatrice succeeds last year's winner from St. Julian's, Ella Portelli. She made history as the first black African-born, mother, and oldest woman to be crowned Miss Universe Malta. Janie Desira of Zejtun and Julieth Casco of Floriana were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Didi Mizzi of Gharghur, Rachel Portelli of Gozo, and Cody Micaleff of Zebbug completed the Top 6 finalists. Nicole Spiteri was crowned Miss World Malta 2024 during the national competition held on Wednesday, July 3 in Fort St. Elmo, Valletta. The 21-year-old beauty bested 24 other contestants to win the national title. She succeeds Martine Cutajar and is now expected to represent Malta at the 72nd Miss World. "Words cannot express what this moment means to me. I did not always believe in myself but through hard work and perseverance I am here today," said the new Miss World Malta. Nicole entered the pageant because of Beauty With A Purpose. She had previously volunteered at domestic violence shelters, worked with children and individuals with special needs, and gained insight into the challenges her community encounters. Twenty worthy women from across Malta will be vying for the coveted national title and earn the opportunity to represent the country at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico later this year. One of them will succeed last year's winner from St. Julian's, Ella Portelli , who went on to compete in Miss Universe 2023 last November in El Salvador. This year's national competition, to be hosted by Maltese television personality Ben Camille, will be the 9th edition under the directorship of Alan J. Darmanin. Miss Malta 2024 is Miss Kalkara, Cherise Spiteri

Cherise Spiteri, representing the municipality of Kalkara, was crowned Miss Malta 2024 during the 61st edition of the national pageant on Sunday, January 7 at the Hilton Malta Hotel in St Julian's. The 21-year-old model, singer, and dancer was also awarded Miss Personality and Best Photogenic Model. She succeeds last year's winner  Anne Camilleri . Miss Dingli (Lexine Farrugia), Miss Żurrieq (Alexia Cutajar), Miss Madliena (Yasemin Ertugrul), and Miss Xemxija (Karolina Bordian) were crowned Miss Republic of Malta, Miss Tourism of Malta, Miss Grand Malta, and Top Model Malta, respectively. For the teens' division, Ihana Cauchi clinched the title of Miss Malta Teen 2024. The Top 5 were Laura Bezzina, Zaida Azzopardi, Shayanne Gauci, and Kelsey Azzopardi. They respectively received the titles Miss Republic of Malta Teen, Miss Tourism of Malta Teen, Miss Maltese Beauty Malta Teen, and Top Model Malta Teen. Martine Cutajar bested over 20 other competitors to be crowned Miss World Malta 2023 in a glittering event held on Wednesday, July 26 at Fort St. Elmo in Valletta. The 23-year-old model is now expected to represent the country at Miss World 2024 while her predecessor, last year's winner Natalia Galea will go to Miss World 2023 in India this December. Amber Debono was named first runner-up while Graziella Debono, who bagged the Beauty With A Purpose award, was announced as the second runner-up. Emily Pace Delicata and Kim Grima rounded out the Top 5 finalists while Briana Cassar received the People's Choice award. Miss St. Julians, Ella Portelli, was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2023 in a national competition held on Friday, June 30 at the Hilton Malta in St. Julian's. The 24-year-old interior designer bested 24 other competitors to win the national title. She will now represent her country at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador later this year. Miss Universe Malta 2022 Maxine Formosa Gruppetta will be wearing the national costume inspired by the Maltese lira at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. The Maltese lira was the official currency of Malta from 1972 until 2008 when it was officially replaced by the euro. Banknotes issued by the Government of Malta and then by the Central Bank of Malta were written in English up to 1972. From 1973 to 1985, they were written in Maltese on the obverse (with the currency identified as lira), and in English on the reverse (identifying the currency as pound). Maltese was used on both sides from 1986 to 2007. Maxine's national costume features a big back piece in the shape of a coin that depicts the Maltese coat of arms signifying the courage and determination of the country. Natalia Galea has been named Miss World Malta 2022 in a national competition held on Wednesday, June 8 in Fort St. Elmo. The 22-year-old lawyer, model, and actress from Santa Venera succeeds last year's titleholder Naomi Dingli. She will represent Malta at the 71st Miss World pageant. Maxine Formosa Gruppetta was officially announced as the newly appointed Miss Universe Malta 2022 in a special press conference and crowning ceremony held at InterContinental Malta in St. George's Bay, St. Julian's on Sunday, April 10. The 21-year-old legal assistant from St. Julian's was second runner-up during last year's Miss Universe Malta competition. She succeeds Jade Cini and will now prepare to represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant (Miss Universe 2022) later this year.
