Miss World Somalia 2022 is Bahja Mohamoud

A student and entrepreneur originally from Beledweyne, Bahja Mohamoud, has been officially announced as Miss World Somalia 2022. She is now expected to represent her country at the 71st Miss World pageant.

The 22-year-old is currently studying at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and enjoys swimming, boating, piano, violin, volunteering at animal shelters, and cooking every cuisine under the sun.

Bahja grew up with a very early passion for medicine, mental health awareness, and education, with a particular interest in healthcare within the Somali community. Her first business was a chemical dependency clinic that had the goal of reducing the stigma of mental health conditions and co-occurring drug addiction in her community when she was only 18.

For her "Beauty with a Purpose" project, the new Miss World Somalia aims at launching her own health foundation and medical clinic in her hometown Beledweyne, a remote village that lacks medical access.

Somalia debuted at the 70th Miss World with Khadija Omar who not only made history by becoming the first-ever hijabi representative at the international pageant but also achieved a Top 13 placement for her country among 97 contestants.
