72nd Miss World heats up with contestants' arrival in Telangana, India
Miss World 2025, the 72nd Miss World competition has officially begun in Telengana, India with the arrival of over 100 contestants vying for the highly coveted title.
The beauties were checked into their official residence hotel, the Trident Hotel Hyderabad, and have been rehearsing for the opening ceremony this coming Saturday, May 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.
According to the Miss World organization, the upcoming ceremony "promises to be a vibrant display of traditional Telangana folk and tribal dance performances, beautifully choreographed in a parade-style theme that will highlight the rich cultural heritage of the region."
Reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszková has also arrived in Hyderabad to begin her final journey as Miss World. The Czech beauty will join this year's Miss World activities and soon crown her successor.
Early favorites to watch out for are contestants from Australia, Brazil, Botswana, Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, India, Ireland, Martinique, Mexico, Namibia, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, United States, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri made a major crossover from the Miss Universe 2024 pageant where she placed third runner-up in Mexico last November.
Former Miss Earth Brazil winner Jessica Pedroso is also one of the strong contenders for the crown this year. She made the Top 12 at Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines.
Krishnah Gravidez of the Philippines made the Top 5 at the highly competitive Miss Universe Philippines 2023 and was supposed to compete at Miss Charm 2024 in Vietnam but relinquished her title and joined Miss World Philippines.
India's very own Miss World India Nandini Gupta, a business management student from Rajasthan, is also vying to win her country's 7th Miss World crown.
Adéla Štroffeková of the Czech Republic, another former Miss Earth contestant, will try to pull off a back-to-back win for her country. The most recent back-to-back Miss World victories came from India, with Yukta Mookhey (1999) and Priyanka Chopra (2000).
The much-awaited 72nd Miss World final and coronation show will be held on May 31 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Telangana state's capital city Hyderabad.
