72nd Miss World officially opens, contestants dazzle in their traditional costumes


Miss World 2025, the 72nd Miss World, has officially commenced with the spectacular opening ceremony held on Saturday, May 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, India.

More than 100 stunning contestants from around the world proudly showcased the rich heritage of their countries in their traditional costumes.

The Miss World organization shared, "Each vibrant outfit told a unique story, reflecting cultural pride and timeless traditions."

"From intricate embroidery to bold colors and symbolic designs, the evening was a true celebration of unity in diversity—proving that beauty transcends borders."

Last night's event also displayed the rich cultural heritage of the southern Indian state of Telangana with captivating performances of traditional folk and tribal dances like Perini, Kommu Koya, Lambada, and Oggu Dolu.

One of the highlights of the show was the contestants singing the Miss World theme song "Light the Passion and Share the Dream" while waving their national flags.

Also present at the ceremony were Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Miss World Limeted Chairman and CEO Julia Morley CBE, and reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszková from Czech Republic.

The next Miss World will be crowned at the HITEX Convention Center on May 31.

Giulia Zanoni, representing La Unión, was crowned Miss Universe El Salvador 2025 on Friday, September 26 at Palacio Tecleño in Santa Tecla. The 20-year-old international relations student succeeds last year's winner Florence Gisselle Garcia and will represent El Salvador at Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand this November. Alva Echegoyen of La Paz finished first runner-up and was crowned Miss International El Salvador 2025. She will head to Japan, also this November, for Miss International 2025. Miss Universe Portugal 2025 is Camila Vitorino

Former Miss Queen of Portugal Camila Vitorino was crowned Miss Universe Portugal 2025 last Saturday, June 14 in the beautiful and historic city of Elvas. The 26-year-old from São Sebastião, Setúbal made history as the first married woman and mother to become Miss Universe Portugal. Laura Malaquias, Diliana Fernandes, and Ivone Carneiro were announced as the first, second, and third runners-up, respectively. Last year's winner Andreia Correia passed on her crown to her successor at the end of the event. The 21-year-old business administration student from Tochigi Prefecture beat over 40 other contestants to win the national title. Miss Universe 2025, the 74th Miss Universe competition is set to take place on Friday, November 21 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark will hand over her crown to her successor at the conclusion of the event. Miss Universe 2026 host country and venue officially announced

The Miss Universe Organization has officially confirmed that Puerto Rico will be the host country for the Miss Universe 2026 pageant. Puerto Rican politician Jenniffer González Colón also made an announcement in a conference held on Tuesday, September 23 in San Juan. The 75th Miss Universe edition will be held in November 2026 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, the largest indoor entertainment and sports arena in Puerto Rico. Reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark was present at the conference alongside former winners from Puerto Rico — Deborah Carthy-Deu (1985), Dayanara Torres (1993), Denise Quiñones (2001), and Zuleyka Rivera (2006). Idil Bilgen was crowned Miss Turkey World 2024 during the Miss Turkey 2024 national final on Wednesday, September 11 at the Lazzoni Hotel in Istanbul. The 24-year-old medical doctor bested 19 other competitors to win the national title. She will prepare to represent Türkiye at the 72nd Miss World whose date and venue have yet to be announced.
