71st Miss Universe: Personalized capes instead of national gifts for auction

The upcoming 71st Miss Universe edition in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA will not be holding a national gift auction and the contestants were informed not to bring a national gift. Instead, they need to customize their own cape for the swimsuit competition taking inspiration from anything that could be related to their cause or the country that they represent. The capes will be auctioned instead of national gifts and proceeds will benefit a charity that has yet to be announced. Contestants will each receive a blank cape from the Miss Universe Organization and they are instructed to bring the "custom art cape" and a copy of the "clearance agreement" to the Miss Universe host country. Diana Tashimbetova was announced as Miss Universe Qazaqstan 2022 (Miss Universe Kazahstan), one of the three title winners of the Miss Qazaqstan 2022 final on Friday, November 18 at the Palace of the Republic in Almaty. Hailing from Almaty City, the 19-year-old model was crowned alongside Miss Qazaqstan 2022 Tomiris Kakimova from Astana and Miss Earth Qazaqstan 2022 Dilnaz Tilaeva. 71st Miss Universe: Contestants' profiles are out, fan voting now open

The profiles of the contestants vying for the 71st Miss Universe title are now available on the official website and app of the Miss Universe pageant. Fan voting is officially open and the contestant with the highest votes will automatically earn a spot in the semifinals. Only the first vote is free and additional votes can be purchased. A total of 86 countries are confirmed to participate in the upcoming competition based on the available profiles posted by the Miss Universe Organization. The final show will be held on January 14 at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. Kristina Plamenova has been officially announced as Miss Universe Bulgaria 2022 and will now represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe. The 26-year-old model and law graduate hails from the northwestern Bulgarian town of Byala Slatina and is currently living in Sofia. She is no stranger to pageantry, having won the title of Miss Sofia in 2019. Bulgaria has yet to win the Miss Universe pageant since the Balkan country debuted at the prestigious international competition in 1991. Chloe Powery-Doxey to represent Cayman Islands at 71st Miss Universe

Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2022 first runner-up Chloe Powery-Doxey has been confirmed to represent the Cayman Islands at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. The 25-year-old coach and Women of Valor Basketball Club alumna from the district of George Town replaced the national winner, Tiffany Conolly, who is currently facing legal proceedings related to assault, property damage, and disorderly conduct. As is customary, if for any reason a queen is unable to complete her reign or perform her duties, the first runner-up shall take over. Sára Mikulenková has been officially confirmed to represent the Czech Republic in the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA this January. The 20-year-old model from Valašské Meziříčí was chosen among the Top 20 finalists of the Česká Miss Essens 2022 competition whose final show is scheduled for December 11. Kristina Ayanian has been officially announced as Miss Universe Armenia 2022 on Wednesday, November 2, and will now represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. The 25-year-old Bentley University graduate and a stock exchange company employee succeeded last year's titleholder Nane Avetisyan and will now prepare to travel to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA this January for the prestigious international competition. No stranger to pageantry, the talented classical pianist has been joining beauty competitions from a young age and won the titles Miss Boston Preteen, Miss Massachusetts Outstanding Teen and Miss Boston. Last year, she was named Miss Grand Armenia and went on to participate in Miss Grand International in Thailand. Miss Belgium 2022 Chayenne van Aarle has now been officially confirmed to represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. The 23-year-old bilingual flight attendant from Antwerp won her beauty title during the national competition held at the Proximus Theater in De Panne in March. "Chayenne grew up in a castle full of neglected animals, from which her love for animals was born. As a child, she walked among zebras, kangaroos, camels and alpacas," the Miss Belgium Organization posted about her on social media. Montana Onose Felix was named Miss Universe Nigeria 2022 after placing first runner-up during the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2022 pageant on Friday, October 21 at Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos. The 21-year-old model and actress, currently based in Texas, represented the Nigerian State of Edo in the 34th MBGN edition. She succeeds last year's titleholder Maristella Okpala and will now prepare to represent Nigeria at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA this January. A total of 37 women took part in the glittering national competition. The main title of Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria and Miss World Nigeria 2022 went to Miss Abia, Ada Eme.
