Two trailblazing and highly accomplished Indian women met each other on Saturday, September 24 during the Global Citizen Festival in New York City's Central Park. The Global Citizen, a non-profit organization dedicated to driving change and making an impact, celebrated its 10th year anniversary with former Miss World Priyanka Chopra as host. Nick Jonas' wife also just recently attended as a speaker at the United Nations General Assembly, also in NYC, where she talked mainly about its top agenda this year which is the Sustainable Development Goals. Reigning Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu was designated as "Madrina" of the Latino Commission on AIDS on Tuesday, September 20 in New York City. The title, meaning godmother, was given to the 22-year-old for her dedication and commitment to the Latino Commission on Aids in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Latino communities. The Miss Divine Beauty 2022 national competition was held last Saturday, September 3 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. A total of 27 finalists took part in the glittering event to win the titles at stake and the opportunity to represent India on the global stage. Vanshika Parmar, a 19-year-old student from Himachal Pradesh, was crowned Miss Earth India 2022 in her second attempt at Miss Divine Beauty. She succeeds Rashmi Madhuri and will now prepare to represent her country at Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines this November. The Glamanand Supermodel India 2022 final competition took place on Sunday, September 4 at Zee Studios in a city of rich cultural heritage, Jaipur. Kashish Methwani, 21, was named Miss International India 2023 and will represent her country at the Miss International 2023 pageant. Her predecessor, last year's titleholder Zoya Afroz will compete in Miss International 2022 in Japan this December. The title of Miss Grand India 2022 went to 24-year-old Praachi Nagpal, who was crowned by Miss Grand India 2020 Simran Sharma. The 10th Miss Diva edition has just concluded in Mumbai and finally the LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2022 (Miss Universe India) Divita Rai has been officially crowned. India's representative to the 71st Miss Universe pageant received her crown from Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu at the end of the highly celebrated event. The event took place on Monday, August 1 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Joanna Camelle Mercado of the Philippines placed second while Gretha Matiauda of Paraguay placed third. The 58th Femina Miss India pageant was held on Sunday, July 3 at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. A 21-year-old Bharatanatyam dancer from Karnataka, Sini Shetty, bested 29 other contestants to win the title of Femina Miss India 2022. Rubal Shekhawat from Rajasthan and Shinata Chauhan from Uttar Pradesh were respectively named the first and second runners-up while Gargee Nandy and Pragnya Ayyagari completed the Top 5 finalists.
