The contestants selected to compete for Miss Peru 2023 (Miss Universe Peru 2023) have been officially revealed. A total of 25 beauties will be vying for the coveted national title on a date yet to be announced. The winner will get the opportunity to represent her country at Miss Universe 2023 in San Salvador, El Salvador later this year. Last year's winner and Miss Universe 2022 Top 16 semifinalist Alessia Rovegno will crown her successor at the culmination of this year's national competition. Who will be the next Miss Universe Peru? Arlette Rujel of Peru was crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2022 during the pageant's final competition held on Saturday, March 25 at the Salón Sirionó Fexpocruz in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The 23-year-old professional model bested 28 other competitors to become the first Peruvian woman to win the international title. She succeeded Andrea Bazarte of Mexico. Former Miss Grand Peru, Camila Escribens, decided to give pageantry another try by joining Miss Peru 2023 national competition. The 24-year-old Lima-born fashion model is no stranger to pageantry. After bagging the title of Miss Grand Peru 2019, she went on to participate in the 7th Miss Grand International pageant in Caracas, Venezuela, and finished in the Top 10 among 60 competitors. She was later on nominated by the Miss Peru Organization as Miss Supranational Peru 2020 and was supposed to take part in the 12th Miss Supranational edition in Poland but withdrew due to health reasons. Jennifer Barrantes, representing the region of Ucayali, was crowned Miss World Peru 2022 on Sunday, September 25 in Lima. The 23-year-old beauty is a commercial aviation graduate, a business owner, and an animal advocate. Apart from winning her title, she also bagged several awards including Best Smile, Miss Yolett, and Top Model. Miss Piura, Nancy Salazar, was crowned Miss Earth Peru 2022 in a competition held on Sunday, August 14 at DataVision studio in Lima. The 23-year-old business administration graduate succeeds last year's titleholder Briggitte Corrales and will represent her country at Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines this November. Miss Lima Sur, Maria Pia Huaranca, was named Miss Earth Peru Aire while the representatives of Lambayeque, Shantal Vega, and La Libertad, Pierina Azañedo completed the Top 4 and clinched the titles Miss Earth Peru Fuego and Miss Earth Peru Agua, respectively. The 24-year-old model, singer and influencer, who also received the Miss Photogenic award, is the daughter of actress Bárbara Cayo and the current partner of athlete Hugo García. Tatiana Calmell and Tatiana Calmell were named Miss Peru International 2022 and Miss Peru Latina Universal 2022, respectively. The new Miss Universe Peru succeeds last year's titleholder Yely Rivera and will represent her country at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant later this year.
