Former Miss Universe Argentina Mariana Valera and fellow beauty queen from Puerto Rico, Fabiola Valentín, revealed they had secretly tied the knot after keeping their relationship private for a long time. Their intimate wedding ceremony took place last Friday, October 28 in San Juan, Puerto Rico where same-sex marriage has been legal since 2015. Back in 2019, they both tried to join Miss Universe but while Mariana won her national title and went on to compete in the prestigious pageant in Atlanta, Georgia, Fabiola was not lucky enough to take home the Miss Universe Puerto Rico title as she only placed in the Top 3. Their paths crossed a year later when their pageant journey brought them together in Miss Grand International 2020 which was held in Bangkok, Thailand where they both placed in the Top 10 and fell in love. Miss Universe front-runner from Puerto Rico Ashley Cariño squeezed in a few latest photos while she is busy preparing for the competition of her life in just three months. Photographed by Fani Miranda, the proud boricua went to social media on Saturday, September 24 to share the stunning shots of her wearing a gown by Laura Saez and the crown by Lido Jewelers. "My favorite color is purple," she captioned in Spanish with a purple heart emoji and added: "It's no coincidence that purple is the mix of blue with red, the colors of my flag. Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2023 pageant has officially kicked off with the sashing ceremony on Sunday, August 14 at the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel in Carolina. This year's edition introduced a total of 28 contestants representing various towns, municipalities, and cities of Puerto Rico. Reigning Miss Earth Puerto Rico Paulina Avilés is expected to compete at Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines this November, while her successor will go to Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam. Miss Fajardo, Ashley Ann Cariño, was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2022 in a glittering competition that took place on Thursday, August 11 at the Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré, also known as Bellas Artes de Santurce in San Juan. The 27-year-old beauty succeeds last year's winner Michelle Colón of Loíza and will represent Puerto Rico at the 71st Miss Universe pageant (Miss Universe 2022) later this year. Leonela González De Jesús of Dorado and Camille Fabery Diana of Cataño were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. The representatives of Aguadilla,  Graciela Berrios and Toa Alta, Valeria Pagán Masini, completed the Top 5 finalists. The preliminary competition of Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2022 took place on Sunday, August 7 from the historic Teatro Tapia (Tapia Theater) Theater in San Juan. Hosted by "NotiCentro" journalist Jorge Gelpí Pagán and "Viva la tarde" presenter Nicole Chacón, with musical numbers from Lenny Tavárez and  Christian Daniel, the colorful event featured 28 contestants competing in their preliminary swimsuits and evening gowns. Toa Baja representative Elena Rivera was crowned Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2022 (Miss World Puerto Rico 2022) during the national competition held on Thursday, June 30 at Centro de Bellas Artes de Caguas. Amanda Pérez Solis of Río Grande and Andrea Carolina Rivera of Lares were the first and second runners-up, respectively. A total of 30 contestants competed for the coveted national title and the right to represent Puerto Rico at the 71st Miss World pageant. Last year's titleholder Aryam Díaz Rosado crowned her successor at the end of the event. The new Miss World Puerto Rico is an 18-year-old fashion model and marketing student. The Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico 2022 final competition was held on Sunday, June 5 at Teatro Alejandro Tapia y Rivera in San Juan. San Sebastian's Paola González Torres, a 23-year-old chemistry student, was named Miss International Puerto Rico 2022. She succeeds last year's titleholder Natalia Colón and is expected to represent Puerto Rico at Miss International 2022 pageant in Japan later this year. Following a "frivolous and malicious lawsuit" filed against her and her Reignite Puerto Rico foundation, Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle Diaz took to social media to release an official statement. Last year, the Puerto Rican beauty was appointed by Miss World CEO Julia Morley to lead the negotiations for the hosting of the 70th Miss World pageant in Puerto Rico, whose aim was to generate exposure to the island, attract events of economic impact and help major social causes. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 concerns, the final show was canceled last December and rescheduled to be held this March with only the Top 40 semi-finalists are expected to return to compete for the coveted title. The 20-year-old architecture student at the University of Puerto Rico - Río Piedras bested 20 other contestants to win her beauty title. She succeeds last year's winner, Cristina Mariel, and will now prepare to represent Puerto Rico at the Miss Earth 2022 pageant later this year. Olivia Yacé of Cote D'Ivoire has won the Miss World 2021 Top Model competition held on Monday, December 6 where each contestant had the opportunity to showcase their best catwalk while wearing both national dress and designs made by Puerto Rican designers. The 23-year-old beauty will automatically advance to the quarter-final of the 70th Miss World final on Thursday, December 16 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Cameroon's Audrey Monkam and Puerto Rico's Aryam Díaz were in second and third places, respectively, while the representatives of Bahamas, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, France, Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Poland, Venezuela, and Vietnam completed the Top 13. Miss Grand International 2021 welcome ceremony and press conference was held on Thursday, November 18 at the Four Points by Sheraton Phuket Patong Beach Resort in Phuket, Thailand. Fifty-eight contestants wearing their stunning evening gowns and respective crowns arrived at the venue in a sports car. They raised a toast with the reigning queen Abena Appiah and MGI executives during the glittering event. Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2021 Michelle Marie Colón showed off her national costume for the 70th Miss Universe pageant on the "Viva la Tarde" program of Wapa TV. The national costume called "Protectora de Nuestras Costas” not only pays tribute to the Puerto Rican Afro-descendants but also carries a message of awareness for the conservation of the environment. Recycled materials such as plastic bottles, caps, and bags, some of the most common and harmful pollutants in the seas, were collected and transformed into art and music elements for this beautiful creation. Inspired by Puerto Rico's first indigenous music "la bomba" the costume is a collaborative work of Dominican designers Leonel Lirio and plastic artist Luis Rivas. “I wanted a dress that had color, movement, and that transmitted energy. The 21-year-old model and pre-medicine student who created the CARE Empowerment Program succeeds Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 and Miss Universe Top 10 finalist, Estefanía Soto. San Lorenzo’s Jaylene Marie Álvarez and Dorado’s Oxana Isabel Rivera were respectively named the first and second runners-up while Toa Baja’s Heilymar Rosario, Trujillo Alto’s Sthephanie Marie Miranda, and Villalba’s Gabriela Guzmán completed the Top 6.
