Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2024: Meet the contestants

The official contestants vying for Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2024 were finally revealed on Thursday, April 18 at the mayor's office in San Juan. This year's competition will have 28 of the island's most beautiful women selected to compete for the coveted national title. One of them will be the successor of Karla Guilfú Acevedo, reigning Miss Universe Puerto Rico and Miss Universe 2023 Top 5 finalists. "Enjoy every stage of the process because all the knowledge you acquire will be with you forever," Karla's words of support for the contestants. The preliminary competition for Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2024 will be held on June 23 while the final is on June 27 at Centro de Bellas Artes Luis A. Ferré. The next queen will represent Puerto Rico at the 73rd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2024) in Mexico this November. Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2024 is Valeria Pérez from Manatí

Valeria Pérez was crowned Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2024 (Miss World Puerto Rico 2024) on Saturday, April 6 at Centro de Bellas Artes de Humacao. The 22-year-old biology graduate hailing from Manatí bested 29 other contestants to win the national title. She succeeds  Miss World Puerto Rico 2022 who placed in the Top 40 at the 71st Miss World , Elena Rivera. María Cepero of Aibonito and Mara Meléndez of Isabela were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Giselle Jiménez Osorio of Bayamón and Ninoshka Figueroa of Ciales rounded out the Top 5 finalists. The new Miss Mundo Puerto Rico will now prepare to represent Puerto Rico at the 72nd Miss World edition on a date and venue yet to be announced. Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2024 is Bianca Nicole Caraballo

Bianca Nicole Caraballo was crowned Miss Earth Puerto Rico 2024 in a national competition held on Thursday, February 1 at the Teatro Francisco Arriví in San Juan. The 22-year-old beauty, representing Mayagüez, bested 25 other contestants to win the title. She succeeds last year's winner and Miss Earth 2023 Top 12 finalist Victoria Arocho . Natalia Aldarondo De La Cruz of Ponce, Nathàlie Cristina Santa Cruz Bacardí of Culebra, and Isadora Torres Maldonado of Toa Baja were awarded the elemental titles of Miss Earth Puerto Rico - Air, Water and Fire 2024, respectively. Rounding out the Top 5, Ediris Joan Rivera of Barranquitas, clinched the title of Miss Global Puerto Rico 2024 and will go on to compete in Miss Global 2024. She was crowned by her predecessor and reigning Miss Global 2023  Ashley Melendez . Miss Global 2023 is Ashley Melendez from Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico's Ashley Melendez was crowned Miss Global 2023 during the 10th Miss Global competition held on Thursday, January 18 at the Corona Resort & Casino Phu Quoc in Vietnam. The 26-year-old model bested more than 60 other contestants to win the international title. She succeeds Miss Global 2022 winner Shane Tormes of the Philippines. Haylani Kuruppu of Samoa was named first runner-up while Chonnikarn Supittayaporn of Thailand, Pearl Hung of the Philippines, and Doan Thu Thuy of Vietnam were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Janaya Reimers of Australia, Leak Monyanita of Cambodia, Francheska Pujols of the Dominican Republic, Cynthia Ong of Indonesia, Taanusiya Chetty of Malaysia, Zai Jama of Somalia, Simphiwe Zama Ntombela of South Africa, and Tasabeh Diab of Sudan were the rest of the Top 13 finalists. Puerto Rico's Karla Guilfú Acevedo reveals national costume for Miss Universe 2023

Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023 Karla Guilfú Acevedo has revealed the national costume "Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastian" which she will showcase in the upcoming Miss Universe 2023 pageant in El Salvador. Designed by Joshuan Aponte in collaboration with Fabián De la Fuente for the accessories, the national costume is a tribute to the architecture of Old San Juan and the San Sebastian Street Festivals. The skirt was crafted from velvet and black sequins in an elegant trumpet cut and is adorned with hundreds of handcrafted cobblestones, each painted to replicate Old San Juan's iconic blue cobblestones. Above the corset, which emulates the architecture of the Fortress, a shell-type backrest adorned with more than a dozen emblematic places of Old San Juan unfolds, from the fountain of Paseo de la Princesa to the chapel of Santo Cristo, all in impressive 3D details, some illuminated with LED lights. Over two weeks after winning the coveted Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023, Karla Guilfú Acevedo has returned to her hometown Patillas. The 24-year-old beauty originally from Esmeralda del Sur, was overjoyed to receive a heartwarming welcome upon her return on Saturday following her successful stint in the national competition. Karla is set to represent Puerto Rico in the upcoming 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador this November. Known for her incredible first runner-up finish at Miss Supranational 2021, the psychology graduate student is expected to do very well at Miss Universe and hopefully bring home the sixth crown for Puerto Rico. Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023 is Karla Inelisse Guilfú Acevedo

Karla Inelisse Guilfú Acevedo  was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023 in a glittering competition held on Thursday, August 24 at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Santurce in San Juan. The 24-year-old psychology graduate hailing from Esmeralda del Sur, Patillas bested 29 other competitors to win the national title. She also bagged the Mujer de Valor award from L'Oréal Paris. Xarimar Acevedo Pabón of Río Grande was named first runner-up while  Kiara Rivera Escudero of Toa Baja,  Fiorella Medina Pérez of Isabela, and Isarel Marielis Román Almeda of San Lorenzo were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Last year's winner, Ashley Cariño, a Top 5 finalist at Miss Universe 2022, handed over the new crown "Evolución" to her successor at the end of the event. No stranger to pageantry, the new Miss Universe Puerto Rico previously won the title Miss Supranational Puerto Rico at Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico 2020 and went on to compete in Miss Supranational 2021

Following weeks of pre-pageant activities, the Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023 grand final and coronation is taking place tonight at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Santurce in San Juan. At the end of the event, one of the 30 contestants will be crowned by outgoing queen Ashley Cariño and take home the opportunity to represent Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. Hosted by entertainer José Santana and Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2020 Estefanía Soto Torres, tonight's glittering show presented by L'Oréal Paris is broadcasting live on Wapa TV. Guest performers consist of Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and record producer Tommy Torres, two-time Latin Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter of Latin pop and tropical music genres Luis Figueroa, and Colombian singer, songwriter, and actor Carlos Vives.
