Kristina Plamenova has been officially announced as Miss Universe Bulgaria 2022 and will now represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe. The 26-year-old model and law graduate hails from the northwestern Bulgarian town of Byala Slatina and is currently living in Sofia. She is no stranger to pageantry, having won the title of Miss Sofia in 2019. Bulgaria has yet to win the Miss Universe pageant since the Balkan country debuted at the prestigious international competition in 1991. The new Miss Universe Bulgaria succeeded last year's titleholder Elena Danova and will now prepare to travel to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA for the upcoming Miss Universe edition this January. Elena Danova has been officially named Miss Universe Bulgaria 2021 on October 28 following an online casting among 48 applicants from all over the country. The 21-year-old public relations student at Sofia University hails from Krichim. She is also a model, actress, and singer who speaks English and German fluently. "I can not describe the joy I feel. I am honored to carry this title and to represent Bulgaria at the most prestigious competition," she shared on her social media account. Elena succeeds Radinela Chusheva and she will now prepare to compete in the 70th Miss Universe pageant to be held in Eilat, Israel this December. Radinela Chusheva, a native of Sofia, has been officially named Miss Universe Bulgaria 2020. The announcement was made on Miss Universe Bulgaria's official social media page. The 24-year-old beauty succeeds Lora Asenova and will now prepare to represent her Balkan country at the 69th Miss Universe pageant in Hollywood, Florida, USA, this May. Sofia holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's in marketing. She was a professional athlete and Bulgarian medalist in rhythmic gymnastics. The new Miss Universe Bulgaria stands 5 feet 7 inches tall. She speaks English and Romanian fluently, and enjoys sports, dancing, and painting in her free time.
