Jordanne Lauren Levy was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2023 in a national competition held on Sunday, August 20 at AC Hotel in Kingston. The 27-year-old medical doctor from the capital city succeeds last year's winner Toshami Calvin and will now prepare to represent Jamaica at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador. Robyn Kiira Lloyd and Deborah Gordon were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Gabrielle Henry, Ashlie Barrett, and Tyra Spaulding were the rest of the Top 6 finalists. Following an elimination round held last June 10 at AC Hotel in Kingston, the 30 contestants vying for Miss Universe Jamaica 2023 were officially unveiled. The selection committee members who selected the finalists consisted of Mark McDermoth, Karl Williams (Co-National Directors of the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization), Gario Graham, Emma Subratie, and the reigning queen Toshami Calvin. An official sashing ceremony and presentation will take place at the same venue next Sunday, June 25. The preliminary show will be held on August 23 while the coronation of the next Miss Universe Jamaica will be on August 26. Toshami Calvin was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2022 on Saturday, September 3 at the Grand Ball Room of the AC Hotel by Marriot in Kingston. The 26-year-old beauty from St. Thomas is a registered behavior technician. In addition to her national title, she also bagged the Best in Evening Gown and Essence of Style Award. Rachel Silvera and Shanique Singh were the first and second runners-up, respectively. A total of 20 contestants took part in this year's competition. Last year's titleholder Daena Soares relinquished her reign at the end of the glittering event. Daena Soares bested nine other finalists to be crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2021 in a gleaming national competition held last October 31 at the Hotel Riu Montego Bay in St. James. The 22-year-old beauty who hails from Jamaica's breadbasket parish, St. Elizabeth, holds a bachelor's degree in basic medical sciences from the University of the West Indies. She succeeds last year's winner, Miqueal-Symone Williams. Trishanie Weller and Lauren Less were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Universe Jamaica was also awarded Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality.
