Korina Emmanouilidou (Κορίνα Εμμανουήλιδου) was named Star GS Hellas 2022 (Miss Universe Greece) on Thursday, September 29 at the Lohan Night Club in Athens. She succeeded last year's titleholder, Sofia Arapogianni. The 22-year-old model, aesthetician, and makeup artist from Thessaloniki will now represent Greece at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA this January. María Fernanda Rodríguez Ávila bested eight other finalists to be crowned Miss Costa Rica 2022 on Wednesday, September 28 in San José. The 24-year-old beauty from San Carlos is a model, civil engineer, and trilingual. She succeeds Valeria Rees and will represent Costa Rica at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Louisiana this January. Kristell Ruiz Freeman, 25, and Mariella Conejo Benavides, 27, were the first and second runners-up, respectively. The new Miss Costa Rica is no stranger to pageantry. She was named Miss Earth Costa Rica 2017 and participated in the Miss Earth 2017 pageant held in the Philippines. Costa Rica has yet to win Miss Universe since its debut at the international pageant in 1954. The country has however placed in the Top 10 four times in the last 20 years. Miss USA 2022 pageant has officially kicked off in “The Biggest Little City in the World” with the contestants already checked in and ready to slay the competition. Along with Miss Teen USA 2022, the highly anticipated annual event with the motto "Pageantry Reimagined" is taking place at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno Tahoe, Nevada. As reported earlier, the venue was chosen to honor the late former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst and her legacy as this is the same place where she was crowned in 2019. The Miss USA Organization (The Miss Brand Corp.) headed by Crystle Stewart (Miss USA 2008) has also just announced the launch of its streaming service so fans can watch the live shows on a pay per view basis comfortably at home. Miss Mundo Uruguay 2022 Top 8 finalist Carla Romero has been officially revealed as Miss Universe Uruguay 2022. She succeeds Miss Universe Uruguay 2020, Lola de los Santos. The 24-year-old business administration graduate and an image consultant from Montevideo will represent her country at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in New Orleans, Louisiana this January. Carla went to social media on Thursday, September 2022 to personally announce the news to her followers with a new photo captioned "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams."
