UPDATES: Miss Grand International 2021 contestants arrive in Bangkok, national costume competition, standouts


Miss Grand International 2021 contestants are now back in Bangkok after a series of pre-pageant and preliminary events in Phuket, Thailand.

Best in Swimsuit (Fan Vote): Vietnam has won the most votes from fans for Best in Swimsuit followed by Cambodia and Indonesia while Guatemala and the Philippines completed the Top 5.

National Costume Competition: The national costume competition was held on Tuesday, November 30 at the show DC Retail and Entertainment Mega Complex in Bangkok. Colorful and extravagant costumes that best represent their countries were showcased by the contestants during the show.

Standouts: Notable costumes were from Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Honduras, Malaysia, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Thailand.


Vote Top 20 Best National Costume: Voting is now open for Best in National Costume through the official Facebook and Instagram of MGI until December 2 (Thailand time). The Top 20 will be decided based on the 10 most voted costumes and the remaining 10 will come from the judges.

Miss Popular Vote: The current Top 5 voted contestants through Star Phone Application as of December 1st 11 a.m. (Thailand Time) are Cambodia, South Africa, Egypt, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Miss Popular Vote winner will automatically earn a spot in the final Top 10 on December 4.

Miss Nepal 2023: Meet the winners of Miss Nepal World, Earth and International titles

The Dabur Vatika Miss Nepal 2023 final competition was held on Saturday, May 27 at the Godawari Convention Hall in Lalitpur. Contestant number 17   Srichchha Pradhan, a Bennington College graduate with a degree in environmental studies, was proclaimed Miss Nepal World 2023. Raina Majgaiya, a commercial pilot, clinched the title Miss Nepal Earth 2023 while Prasiddhy Shah, also an environmental studies graduate, was named Miss Nepal International 2023. They are expected to represent Nepal at Miss World 2024, Miss Earth 2023 (Vietnam), and Miss International 2023 (Japan), respectively. A total of 24 contestants from around the country were selected to take part in the 27th edition of the Miss Nepal pageant. Last year's titleholders Priyanka Rani Joshi, Sareesha Shrestha, and Nancy Khadka crowned their respective successors at the end of the event. Miss Rhode Island USA 2023 is Mary Malloy

Cumberland's Mary Malloy was crowned Miss Rhode Island USA 2023 on Sunday, May 28 at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium (The VETS) in Providence. The first runner-up was Katie Bergantine while Jesaura Peralta, Briana Vega, and Kaitlynne Santana were announced as the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. No stranger to pageantry, the new Miss Rhode Island USA is a former Miss Rhode Island Teen USA titleholder. She also participated twice at Miss California USA where she placed first runner-up in 2021 and Top 16 semifinalist in 2022. Mary will now prepare for the Miss USA 2023 pageant to be held in Reno, Nevada later this year and hopefully conquer the second national title for the state after former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo in 2012. Kim Rossen bested six other competitors to win Miss Universe Curacao 2023 on Saturday, May 27 at the World Trade Center (WTC) in Willemstad. The 25-year-old model, athlete, and occupational therapist living in Rotterdam, Netherlands will now prepare to represent Curacao at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador later this year. No stranger to pageantry, the University of Rotterdam graduate was first runner-up when she participated in Miss Curacao Holland 2023 last December. This year's Miss Universe Curacao final competition was hosted by Venezuelan television presenter Maite Delgado. Bianty Gomperts was named first runner-up while Kimberly Fernandes was announced as the second runner-up. Miss Arizona USA 2023 is Candace Kanavel of Tempe

Candace Kanavel was crowned Miss Arizona USA 2023 on Monday, May 29 at the Higley Center for the Performing Arts in Gilbert, Arizona. The 27-year-old Arizona State University alumna and police officer from Tempe will now represent her home state at Miss USA 2023 in Reno, Nevada this fall. She succeeds last year's winner Isabel Ticlo after trying to win the title for several years. Thaweeporn "Aoom"  Phingchamrat was crowned Miss Grand Thailand 2023 in a glittering final competition held on Saturday, April 29 at MGI Hall, Show DC Megacomplex in Bangkok. The 27-year-old model from the southern province of Chumphon bested 76 other contestants to win the national title. She succeeded last year's winner and Miss Grand International 2022 first runner-up Engfa Waraha. Tia Li Taveepanichpan of Phuket was named first runner-up while Pimjira Charoenluk of Bangkok, Ajcharee Srisuk of Loei, and Ketwalee Phlobdee of Phrae were the second, third, fourth runners-up, respectively. Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel visits Guatemala with reigning Miss USA and Miss Teen USA

Reigning Miss Universe R'Bonney Gabriel touched down in Guatemala City this week with her queen sisters Miss USA 2022 Morgan Romano and Miss Teen USA 2022 Faron Medhi. The trio went to the Central American country for Smile Train, the world's largest cleft charity providing safe, high-quality cleft palate surgical care in over 70 countries. "Had the sweetest time dying shirts and spending time with children that have undergone cleft surgeries with @smiletrain," R'Bonney shared on social media. The beauty queen also reunited with her fellow competitor at Miss Universe 2022 in New Orleans, Miss Universe Guatemala 2022 Ivana Batchelor. Talking about their experience in the country, reigning Miss Teen USA shared, "I had such a beautiful first day in Guatemala with @smiletrain." Zimbabwe will return to Miss Universe pageant after 22 years

After a 22-year absence, Zimbabwe, a landlocked country in southern Africa, is expected to return to the Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador later this year. Previously held by the first ever Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Yvette D'Almeida Chakras, the Miss Universe license is now in the hands of Tendai Hunda, a former Miss World Zimbabwe and Miss Intercontinental 2015 fourth runner-up. Joining her as chief of operations and managing director is Zimbabwean television personality and communications consultant, Rumbidzai Takawira. Zimbabwe last joined Miss Universe in the year 2001 with Tsungai Muswerakuenda. Its highest placement was achieved in 2000 when Corinne Crewe finished in the Top 10 from a field of 79 competitors in Nicosia, Cyprus. Miss Earth New Zealand 2023 is Caitlyn Dulcie from Auckland

Caitlyn Dulcie was crowned Miss Earth New Zealand 2023 on Saturday, May 27 at Te Pou Theatre in Henderson, Auckland. The 23-year-old model, dancer, and musician also bagged the Best In Judge’s Interview and Best in Talent special awards.  Her court of elemental queens consists of Mercedes Budd, Lelaine Dela Cruz, Alyssa Roberts, and Moya van Kooten. They were named Miss Earth Air, Water, Fire, and Land, respectively. Simran Madan, last year's winner who went on to compete in the Philippines last November, passed the crown to her successor at the end of the event. Caitlyn will now prepare to represent her island country at Miss Earth 2023 in Vietnam later this year. New Zealand has yet to win the Miss Earth title since joining the pageant for the first time in 2001. Miss Nederland 2023 (Miss Universe Netherlands 2023) final competition will be held on Saturday, July 8 at the AFAS Theater in Leusden, Netherlands.
