Miss Grand Philippines pageant officially launched


Miss Grand Philippines, the first national competition exclusively for Miss Grand International after leaving Binibining Pilipinas, was officially launched in a press conference held on Thursday, November 24 at Hilton Manila.

Attending the event were the MGI executives, reigning queen Isabella Menin of Brazil and her court of runners-up from Indonesia, Andina Julie, Venezuela, Luiseth Materán, Czech Republic, Mariana Bečková, Puerto Rico, Oxana Rivera, Spain, Hirisley Jimenez, Colombia, Priscilla Londoño, Cambodia, Pich Votey Saravody, and the Philippines, Roberta Tamondong.

MGI President Nawat Itsaragrisil took the opportunity to apologize to Filipino fans for whatever happened in the past and encouraged them to leave the past behind and move forward together and whatever. He is looking forward to the first winner from the Philippines in the nearest future, someone who possesses the right qualities and is willing to work with the MGI organization.

The new national director, entrepreneur Arnold Vegafria, officially welcomed the new franchise in addition to Miss World, Miss Supranational, Miss Eco International, and Reina Hispanoamericana.

"This has long been a big dream for me to forge a meaningful alliance with one of the most prestigious pageants in the world. We now embark on a new chapter as we proudly claim the official Philippine franchise of Miss Grand International. I will do my best to make our relationship flourish and to support each other's charities and advocacies," he said.

Details for the upcoming Miss Grand Philippines 2023 pageant are yet to be announced.

Miss Universe 2024, the 73rd Miss Universe pageant will be held on November 16 at the the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. Daumier Corilla of the Philippines was proclaimed Mister Global 2024 on Sunday, October 6 at MCC Hall of The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi in Bangkok, Thailand. The 28-year-old model, actor, and host bested over 30 other contestants to become the first-ever Filipino winner of the international male pageant. Shereen Ahmed was recently crowned Miss Universe Bahrain 2024 and will compete in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico this November. After a 23-year hiatus, Hong Kong is set to return to the Miss Universe stage this year with Miss Universe Hong Kong 2024 Joanne Rhodes. The 24-year-old art advisor and model edged out 15 other finalists to win the competition on September 26 at the Go Park Sai Sha. USA's Janelis Leyba was crowned Miss Asia Pacific International 2024 on Monday, October 7 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, Philippines. The Miss International organization has officially announced the names of the contestants who are vying for Miss International 2024. A total of 75 beauties from different countries and territories are expected to compete for the coveted international beauty title. The contestants will start arriving in Japan on October 29 and will be immersed in various social, cultural, and educational activities. Reigning Miss International Andrea Rubio from Venezuela will crown her successor on November 12 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall.
