Ungfrú Ísland 2023: Lilja Síf Pétursdóttir to represent Iceland at Miss Universe 2023


Lilja Síf Pétursdóttir was crowned Ungfrú Ísland 2023 (Miss Universe Iceland 2023) in a glittering competition held on Wednesday, August 16 at Gamla Bíó in Reykjavík.

The 19-year-old nursing home employee representing Capital Region bested 15 other finalists to win the national title.

She succeeds last year's winner Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir and will now prepare to represent Iceland at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) pageant to be held in El Salvador this November.

Miss Reykjavik (Helena Hafþórsdóttir O'Connor) placed second while Miss Husavik (Kolfinna Mist Austfjord), Miss Midnight Sun (Dagny Ósk Garðarsdóttir), and Miss Northern Lights (Borghildur Birta Einarsdóttir) were third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

The rest of the Top 10 were Miss Land of Fire and Ice (Bahia Aurelie Ferro), Miss Akranes (Erla Dís Guðmundsdóttir), Miss Blue Mountains (Helga Rós Arnarsdóttir), Mis 101 Reykjavík (Daniela Dís Jörundsdóttir), and Miss Diamond Beach (Tinna Lind Helgadóttir).

Miss Universe 2025, the 74th Miss Universe competition is set to take place on Friday, November 21 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. Reigning Miss Universe Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark will hand over her crown to her successor at the conclusion of the event. This year's much-talked-about edition marked Thailand's fourth time hosting the prestigious beauty pageant after 1992, 2005, and 2018. Fatima Bosch was crowned Miss Universe Mexico 2025 on Saturday, September 13 at Sala Placido Domingo (Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas) in Zapopan, Jalisco. The 24-year-old designer from Teapa, Tabasco triumphed over 30 other contestants to win the coveted national title. She will represent Mexico at Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand this November. Aldana Masset was crowned Miss Universe Argentina 2025 on Sunday, May 25 at Mansión Tango in Buenos Aires. The 25-year-old singer and image consultant from the province of Entre Rios beat 27 other contestants to win the national title. Polish-American Emily Reng to represent Poland at Miss Universe 2025

Polish-American Emily Reng was officially announced by the Miss Polonia organization as Miss Universe Poland 2025 on Wednesday, October 22. The 20-year-old will now prepare to represent Poland at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand this coming November. Emily is a graduate of John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois and is currently a student at the University of South Carolina. The new Miss Universe Poland is no stranger to pageantry. Miss Universe Portugal 2025 is Camila Vitorino

Former Miss Queen of Portugal Camila Vitorino was crowned Miss Universe Portugal 2025 last Saturday, June 14 in the beautiful and historic city of Elvas. The 26-year-old from São Sebastião, Setúbal made history as the first married woman and mother to become Miss Universe Portugal. Laura Malaquias, Diliana Fernandes, and Ivone Carneiro were announced as the first, second, and third runners-up, respectively. Last year's winner Andreia Correia passed on her crown to her successor at the end of the event. "It is with great honor that I carry this sash on my chest representing all women, all mothers and the Portuguese people. The 28-year-old model and influencer will now prepare to represent Chile at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand this November. Karla Bacigalupo was crowned Miss Peru 2025 (Miss Universe Peru 2025) in a national competition held last Sunday, June 15 in the historic city of Cusco. The 33-year-old actress and producer will now prepare to represent Peru at Miss Universe 2025 to be held in Thailand this November. Former Reina Hispanoamerican Maricielo Gamarra was announced as first runner-up while former Top Model of the World Janet Leyva finished as the second runner-up. Michaela Tomanová was crowned Miss Universe Czech Republic 2025 (Miss Universe Czechia) on Wednesday, June 25 at Chateau de Frontiere in Hlohovec. The 27-year-old mother, model and scientist from Prague will represent the Czech Republic at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand this November. Completing the Top 4 finalists were Eva Brožková, Petra Šafránková, and Sarah Duong Vu Thi Thuy.
