Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel visits El Salvador

Fresh from her Paris Fashion Week debut, the reigning Miss Universe R'Bonney Gabriel of the USA touched down in El Salvador for the first time today. According to the beauty queen, she will be in the Central American country for a week to start filming for the upcoming Miss Universe 2023 competition. "It is my first time here, I'm very excited, I've heard amazing things about El Salvador. I'm looking for some of the best pupusas here in the country and I'm looking forward to just exploring the beauty that this country has to offer," she shared on social media. The 72nd Miss Universe is set to take place in El Salvador on November 18. R'Bonney will crown her successor at the end of the event, just 10 months after she won Miss Universe 2022 in New Orleans. Miss Universe 2023: Meet the contestants

As of October 1, 2023, a total of 78 beauties have already been confirmed as official contestants for the 72nd Miss Universe pageant. With just over a month left until the competition in El Salvador, there are only several countries that have yet to crown their official representatives to the prestigious international beauty event. Apart from Pakistan's debut, over 10 returnees are expected to take part consisting of Bangladesh, Denmark, Egypt, Guyana, Hungary, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Norway, and Zimbabwe. Marielia Zaloumi was crowned Star GS Hellas 2023 (Miss Universe Greece 2023) in a national competition held on Thursday, September 28 at Vegas Live Stage in Tavros. The 20-year-old business management graduate and advocate from Athens competed against 17 other contestants to win the coveted title. She succeeds last year's winner Korina Emmanouilidou and will now prepare to represent Greece at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. Along with Star GS Hellas, the title of Mr GS Hellas 2023 (Mister Supranational Greece 2024) went to a 24-year-old fitness coach, Giannis Dolianitis. He will go on to compete in Mister Supranational 2024 in Poland. Miss USA 2023 is Noelia Voigt of Utah

Noelia Voigt of Utah was crowned Miss USA 2023 on Friday, September 29 at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada. The 23-year-old Venezuelan-American interior designer and author of "Maddie the BRAVE" succeeds Morgan Romano and will now prepare to represent the USA at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. Savannah Gankiewicz of Hawaii was named first runner-up while Alexis Loomans of Wisconsin, Jasmine Daniels of Pennsylvania, and Lluvia Alzate of Texas were the second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Tunde Blaga was crowned Miss Universe Hungary 2023 in a national competition held on Friday, September 29 at the Aurea Ana Palace Hotel in Budapest. The 27-year-old model edged out 15 other contestants to win the national title. She will now prepare to represent Hungary at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. Lilla Csasztvan and Nóra Kenéz were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Liza Mihályfi bagged the Miss Congeniality award. Bui Quynh Hoa triumphed over 17 other competitors to win Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 on Friday, September 29 at the Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City. The 25-year-old model and entrepreneur from Hanoi will now prepare to represent Vietnam at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) in El Salvador this coming November. Nguyen Thi Huong Ly and Trinh Thi Hong Dang were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while Emma Le, Lydie Vu, and Pham Thi Anh Thu were the rest of the Top 6 finalists. H'Duyen Bkrong, Huynh Kim Anh, Mai Phuong Thao, and Nguyen Thi Le Nam rounded out the Top 10 semifinalists. Maya Aboul Hosn, a radio and television personality from Btekhnay, is set to represent Lebanon at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. The 25-year-old host at LBCI Lebanon was named first runner-up during the Miss Lebanon 2022 final held in Beirut in July last year. In a post on social media, she wrote, "Embarking on an incredible journey to represent Lebanon in the Miss Universe competition." "With love and pride for my hometown, let's shine on the global stage," she added. The new Miss Universe Lebanon succeeds last year's winner Yasmina Zaytoun who will soon travel to India to participate in Miss World 2023 in December. Lebanon won the Miss Universe pageant once with Georgina Rizk in 1971. Its last placement was in 1973 with Marcèlle Herro's Top 12 finish. Miss Universe Egypt 2023 is Mohra Tantawy

Mohra Tantawy edged out four other competitors to be proclaimed Miss Universe Eygpt 2023 on Monday, September 25. The 21-year-old business marketing graduate and model from Cairo will now prepare to represent Egypt at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. Aya Abdelrazik was named first runner-up while Amera Othman, Doaa Meera Tarek, and Salma Eltoukhy were the rest of the finalists. This year's competition was the first edition of the national pageant since the Dubai-based company Yugen Group held the Miss Universe license for Egypt. The final show was streamed on the official Miss Universe YouTube channel. No stranger to pageantry, the new Miss Universe Egypt is a former Miss Intercontinental Egypt who participated in Miss Intercontinental 2022 last October in Sharm El Sheikh. Lorena Santen was crowned Miss Universe Switzerland 2023 in a national competition on Saturday, September 23 at the Hilton Hotel in Geneva. The 26-year-old economics graduate from Aargau beat 14 other competitors to win the title. She succeeds last year's winner Alia Guindi and will soon represent her country at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador. Marisa Varunee Kappenthuler and Emilie Bovier were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while  Jessica Alice Schmid and Dalia Del Valle Kramer rounded out the Top 5 finalists. Aishah Akorede triumphed over nine other competitors to be crowned Miss Universe Ireland 2023 on Friday, September 22 at the Liberty Hall Theatre in Dublin. The 23-year-old fashion model and Beauty and the Geek UK winner from County Kildare will now prepare to represent Ireland at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador this November. Katie O'Connor was named first runner-up while Sofia Labus finished as the second runner-up. The new Miss Universe Ireland is the founder of Recrowned Ireland, a non-profit women's empowerment and social justice initiative. Aishah earned her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Griffith College in Dublin and her Master of Laws (LLM) from Queen's University Belfast. She is currently working as a corporate compliance consultant. Ireland was last represented at Miss Universe in 2021 with Katharine Walker.
