Ungfrú Ísland 2023: Lilja Síf Pétursdóttir to represent Iceland at Miss Universe 2023


Lilja Síf Pétursdóttir was crowned Ungfrú Ísland 2023 (Miss Universe Iceland 2023) in a glittering competition held on Wednesday, August 16 at Gamla Bíó in Reykjavík.

The 19-year-old nursing home employee representing Capital Region bested 15 other finalists to win the national title.

She succeeds last year's winner Hrafnhildur Haraldsdóttir and will now prepare to represent Iceland at the 72nd Miss Universe (Miss Universe 2023) pageant to be held in El Salvador this November.

Miss Reykjavik (Helena Hafþórsdóttir O'Connor) placed second while Miss Husavik (Kolfinna Mist Austfjord), Miss Midnight Sun (Dagny Ósk Garðarsdóttir), and Miss Northern Lights (Borghildur Birta Einarsdóttir) were third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

The rest of the Top 10 were Miss Land of Fire and Ice (Bahia Aurelie Ferro), Miss Akranes (Erla Dís Guðmundsdóttir), Miss Blue Mountains (Helga Rós Arnarsdóttir), Mis 101 Reykjavík (Daniela Dís Jörundsdóttir), and Miss Diamond Beach (Tinna Lind Helgadóttir).

Miss Universe Paraguay 2026 is Gretha Matiauda

Former Miss Earth Paraguay Gretha Matiauda has recently been appointed as her country's official representative in the Miss Universe 2026 pageant. The 24-year-old beauty from Asunción is an economist, international model and entrepreneur. She succeeds last year's titleholder Yanina Gómez who made the Top 30 at Miss Universe 2025. Phan Phuong Oanh was proclaimed the winner of the Miss World Vietnam 2025 pageant held on Sunday, March 29 in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam to host the 73rd Miss World competition this summer

Vietnam, the land of the "Ascending Dragon", has been revealed as the official host country of the 73rd Miss World (Miss World 2026) competition.
