Miss Universe Canada 2023 pageant kicks off in Vancouver


After weeks of preparations and anticipation, the contestants vying for Miss Universe Canada 2023 have arrived in Vancouver, British Columbia for the competition week.

Following their arrival, pre-pageant activities kicked off at Holiday Inn Vancouver Airport- Richmond including their registration day and official photoshoots.

Then they all glammed up for Monday night's welcome gala dinner hosted by Supercar Martini Circle in a spectacular venue by ASPAC Developments.

This week's pageant could be over before you know it so mark your calendars as the crucial preliminary competition takes place this Thursday and the final is set for Saturday at at The Show Theatre at Hard Rock Casino Vancouver.

Last year's winner who placed in the Top 16 at Miss Universe 2022, Amelia Tu, will crown her successor among 60 beauties from across the country at the culmination of the event.

The next Miss Universe Canada will represent the "Great White North" at Miss Universe 2023 to be held in El Salvador this November.

Russia's Varvara Yakovenko wins Miss Intercontinental 2025

Varvara Yakovenko beat over 50 other contestants to win Miss Intercontinental 2025 on Thursday, January 29 at V Hotel Sahl Hasheesh in Egypt. The 18-year-old model became the fourth woman from Russia to hold the international beauty title. She succeeds last year's winner María Cepero from Puerto Rico. Lorena Suárez Lara from Cuba was named first runner-up while Vanessa Natcha Wenk of Thailand and Faidha Kassim Kivuyo of Tanzania were the second and third runners-up, respectively. The rest of the Top 7 were Christina Vanhefflin of the Philippines (fourth runner-up), Kika Marques Das Neves of Ecuador (fifth runner-up), and  Brilliant Mukanda Maroko of Kenya (sixth runner-up). Miss World Guatemala 2024 is Jeymi Escobedo

Jeymi Escobedo was crowned Miss World Guatemala 2024 during the glittering Miss Guatemala 2024 final on Wednesday, May 1 at Teatro Dick Smith in Guatemala City. The 18-year-old, representing the department of Suchitepéquez, succeeds  Marcela Miranda and will now prepare to represent Guatemala at the 72nd Miss World. Also crowned during the event were the representatives of the country for Miss International 2024, Miss Grand International 2024, and Reina Hispanoamericana 2024. Kimberly de Boer of Curacao beat 27 other contestants to win Reina Hispanoamericana 2026 on Saturday, February 21 in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The 21-year-old artist and painter from Willemstad became the second woman from Curacao to hold the title next to Evalina Van Putten (2011). Marta Isabel Otero of Colombia placed second (Virreina Hispanoamericana 2026) while Criselys Garcia of the Dominican Republic and Melissa Payró of Mexico were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Pastry chef and model Swann Lavigne from France was proclaimed Mister Supranational 2025 on Saturday, June 28 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater in Nowy Sącz, Poland. The 25-year-old bested 37 other contestants to win the international male pageant. He succeeds last year's winner Fezile Mkhize from South Africa. Former Miss Earth USA Bea Millan-Windorski joins Miss Universe Philippines 2026

Filipino-American Bea Millan-Windorski has recently been appointed as the official representative for the province of La Union at Miss Universe Philippines 2026. At just 24 years old, she is well-acquainted with the world of pageantry, having participated in Miss Earth USA 2024 in Orlando, Florida, where she clinched the title while representing Wisconsin. This achievement made her the first Filipino-American to secure a national title. As Miss Earth USA, she went on to compete in Miss Earth 2024 in the Philippines, where she impressively placed in the Top 4 out of 76 contestants, earning the title of Miss Earth Water. New show format for Miss Universe 2024, important details announced

The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) held a press conference on September 4 in Mexico to announce important details of the upcoming 73rd Miss Universe pageant. This year's historic edition, to be held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City on November 16, will introduce a new show format. From around 130 contestants, only 30 will be announced as semifinalists, followed by the Top 12, Top 5, and the winner. The Top 30 will include four continental queens and one fan vote winner. The contestants are expected to arrive in Mexico during the last week of October and will be staying at their luxurious official residence, the Presidente InterContinental.
