Miss Universe Switzerland 2023 is Lorena Santen


Lorena Santen was crowned Miss Universe Switzerland 2023 in a national competition on Saturday, September 23 at the Hilton Hotel in Geneva.

The 26-year-old economics graduate from Aargau beat 14 other competitors to win the title. She succeeds last year's winner Alia Guindi and will soon represent her country at Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador.

Marisa Varunee Kappenthuler and Emilie Bovier were the first and second runners-up, respectively, while  Jessica Alice Schmid and Dalia Del Valle Kramer rounded out the Top 5 finalists.

The rest of the Top 10 were Gaia Bertoncini, Marine Sayard, Sol Cristina Von Allmen, Vanessa Williams, and Virginie Monney.

Before winning the competition, the new Miss Universe Switzerland shared: "Aspiring to attain the prestigious title of Miss Universe Switzerland and representing Switzerland on an international stage is a dream I have cherished in my heart for as long as I can remember. It is woven into the very fabric of who I am."

"I love every moment of preparing, practicing, and pouring my heart into this extraordinary opportunity. This journey has already been nothing short of an incredible adventure, and I am committed to every step that lies ahead," she added.

María Vargas of Jalisco beat over 30 other contestants to win Miss Universe Mexico 2026 on Saturday, August 29 at Tierra Sagrada in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. The 28-year-old model and businesswoman from Guadalajara will represent Mexico at Miss Universe 2026 in Puerto Rico this November. Mariana Macías of Michoacán finished as first runner-up while Fernanda Abaroa of Guerrero, Génesis Vera of Veracruz, and Ximena Ochoa of Ciudad de México placed second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively. Queen Elizabeth Makune was crowned Miss Universe Tanzania 2026 last Sunday, September 20 at Haddy Pro Hall, Mbezi Beach, Dar es Salaam. Australia's Maria Thattil to wear 'Black Swan' national costume at the 69th Miss Universe

Miss Universe Australia 2020 Maria Thattil will showcase a black swan-inspired national costume in the upcoming 69th Miss Universe pageant in Florida, USA. The costume weighs about 9 kilograms. It was constructed with a total of 105 feathers that were hand-cut from stiffened lightweight fabric and edge bound. Designer Nicola Yeung worked closely with engineer Stuart Bryce of Dugite Designs, who was the mechanical mastermind behind the kinetics. The upper feathers spin, run by a small motor attached to the back. The black swan is a native Australian bird, the emblem of West Australia, and a symbol of hope. Up until the 16th century, swans were widely believed to be invariably white, so much so that the phrase “black swan” was coined to describe an unpredictable event that is beyond what is normal for a situation.
